My whole life I’ve had a charcoal grill and just cooked meat until it looked done.
I recently bought a recteq and have been using the meat probe and it’s a complete game changer. Just grilled the best pork chops I’ve had in my life. I’m never looking back.

Meat thermometers are one of the most useful tools for improving your cooking, no doubt. Make great Christmas gifts for someone just learning to cook.

You need a remote probe for the longer cooks and an instant read for everything else. I could go by feel or look and I will likely get it right, but I might not. For things like chicken and a thicker piece of beef/deer I don't want to get past 130, it's just the best way.

You cook chicken to 130?

I thought I was living on the edge only going to 150

I mean if you try to read it like that I guess you can but the chicken part of the statement is separate from the other meats I cook to 130 if you read it with a bit of sense.

I dont think he missed a comma, but he damn sure used the wrong conjunction.

If he had used "or" instead of "and", he would have made perfect sense.

A thermapen will change how you cook every piece of meat. Nothing will dry out if you pull each piece individually based on temp. Game changer.

I got a Meater as a gift, and while the app is pretty helpful, the bluetooth range is terrible.

I have the range issue with my inkbird but the app works well. Glad I read your comments before I went out and bought a Meater

Thermapens are great, but Thermopro and Lavatools both make very similar models for 1/2 price or less. I tend to break things and will grab the $30 pen over the $100 one, can't really tell the difference in these anymore.

Next time you cook a pork tenderloin, pull it off at 140. Will change the way you look at pork. So goddamn good. And of course brine it for at least 24 hours before.
