It's incredible and takes me back to dove hunts and time spent on the river.

From Mississippi.

I’m 53 and I’ve done it, but it’s been years. Learned from my North LA born dad.

That's what my dad always did, but he drank Pepsi. He'd stop at the store and buy a Pepsi and small bag of peanuts. When he got back to the car, he would drink a little of the Pepsi then pour the peanuts in. Never tried it myself.

In later 40s, grew up in South Carolina.

When I was a kid in pre-fricked metro ATL in the 80's, it was a thing. I never did it, seemed gross back then. Seems gross now. I like coke and I like peanuts but putting them together is just weird.

I did it all the time as a kid, but we used Dr Pepper not Coke.

Yes, I grew up in east central Alabama and did it and saw it done all the time. Forgot about it, but I will be doing it again, soon. Thanks!

I’m 53 and used to see people do it all the time when was a kid. Had it several times myself. It was pretty good with a really cold Coke in a glass bottle. Just doesn’t hit quite the same with the plastic bottles.

My mother in law said they did this because during their break at the textile plant they only had time to walk down to the store and back. You could get a coke and peanuts mix them up and drink/eat them on the walk back to work.

I know a few people who love this still.

Absolutely did this with my gradfather. We'd ride his John Deere up to the country store for fuel. We'd get the old school bottled Coke (that required a deposit for the bottle) and a pack of peanuts. Pour the peanuts into the bottle and enjoy. We'd stand outside of the store and finish, so we could return the bottle.

I'm in my 50s, this was in southern AL.

Saw this all of the time in the Alabama Black Belt. I think it's you who needs your Southern credentials taken away

Yep. South MS.

Done it with Coke or RC. Not since being a kid though.

Hard to believe people from the south have never heard of this. Been doing it my whole life. Saltiness of the peanuts and the sweetness of the coke scratches an itch you didn't know you had.

I'm from South Alabama. My dad taught me to do it. He said he poured peanuts into his coke all the time when he was growing up on his family farm in Iowa back in the 1930s and 40s. It's not just a southern thing.

It has to be the old glass bottles. Just isn't the same with a 20 oz plastic bottle. I think they were 8 oz glass bottles back in the day. The closest thing you can get today are the Mexican Cokes with cane sugar.

I've done this a few times. It's good.

Years ago, someone showed this to me. I had never seen/heard of such a thing.
