It's a great snack in the heat when the bottle Coke is ice cold and just drop a few peanuts in your 8oz glass coke per sip.

Protein, reasonably healthy fat, a good dose of simple sugars, sodium, potassium, and a mild jolt of caffeine. Pretty decent for someone working outside. I never heard ot called a farmer's coke like the OP suggested but it would work well for that line of work through the middle of the day.

Yes some people do it. My ex wife was one who did. I never tasted it, so no idea what it even tastes like. She seemed to like it

Very common in the South. All the old timers did it. Apparently not so common with the mongrels in south La though. Which makes sense since they're oblivious to reality, and aren't really southern/human.

I'm going on 74 and that was a thing back when I was in grade school. Take a $.06 coke in a bottle and pour a $.05 pack of salted peanuts in it after a couple swigs to make room.
