Stopped by Sunday before the Angola Rodeo. Gf and I both had the grits bowl with pulled pork, pickled onion, egg over easy, and "BBQ butter" sauce.

The portions were large. Overall the dish was ok but found it quite bland.

Looks like a fair amount going on there to be called bland. Surprising.

Had the exact same thing the first time I went there and thought the exact opposite

All of that and your review is

Did you come up with all that on your own or did the girlfriend help you?

A picture and one sentence hardly constitutes a review.

I hate it when my wife orders the same thing after I order

"but I didn't know what I wanted and your order sounded good"

Wife and I went a couple Sundays ago. Did not like anything we ordered. I had the brisket something and the sauce was WAY too sweet. Can't remember what she got but it wasn't good either. The only thing that got eaten was the fish and chips that our 2 year old ate.

My dad refuses to tell my mom what he's going to order because she is the type that will go, "Ohhh, that does sound good!" and order the same thing.

I'm usually stuck between a few items, so I get excited when someone orders one of them so I can order the other and taste both.

Oh, and OP.. that bowl looks good. What was bland about it?

Let me help out the OP. I went about two weeks ago on a Sunday--first time I've been since probably a week or two after they first started doing brunch and it was a much smoother experience. Got there around 10 and was surprised to see the tables outside were open, so we snagged one of those. Inside was pretty crowded but there were a couple tables open.

Placed our order and started with a coffee--was surprised that they were serving Community out of the little self-pump towers. I kinda thought they would have more gourmet options, but no biggie--it was bottomless.

Ordered the Brisket & Gravy plate. Food came out pretty fast considering number of people there--probably 20 minutes or so. Pork was cooked appropriately, gravy was awesome--nice and thick and had a good flavor to it. I wish it came with a poached egg though--the fried egg didn't have a liquid yolk so I requested another. I feel like that really sets off the dish (same thought for an Eggs Benedict--gotta have that liquid yolk). Biscuit was hot and flaky--made a nice little sandwich with it.

Overall the dish was very good and worth the $14. I'd say they're doing brunch correctly, but I need to try their other offerings as well to get a well-rounded opinion. Would eat again.

The Cubano at CP on Hollydale is a lot better than the different Cubano on Jefferson. The 2 CP's obviously don't try and make the food on the menus taste the same.

I think Hollydale is all around better. Maybe I just like the "walk up to the counter and order" type atmosphere better though. Food is definitely better at Hollydale IMO

What kind of pig did the brisket come from?
