The argument is the same. Shrimp and fish are still flesh from a living breathing animal. It is meat. It is silly to say otherwise. Only Catholics make this distinction in my experience.

It doesn't bother me. I think it's a more clear descriptor for multiple-choice options than saying meat/poultry/seafood/beans (or other non-meat option like tofu, seitan, etc). Not sure why the word protein makes you upset.

It's better than calling it all "meat" when a significant portion of the population doesn't think of seafood or poultry as "meat".

Just like you posted. Protein could cover a lot of different items, so if they need to say pick a protein, and then list them somewhere, they could just have easily as listed them up front and saved a few characters.

Doesn't bother me as much as the place that used to be here using the phrase, starch of the day. It's like they didn't give a shite about what you were having with your $32 steak.

No, it's poultry. I don't think of shrimp or fish as meat, either--that's seafood. Plenty of ppl who eat chicken don't eat pork or beef. It's a big, varied world out there.

Protein is widely used and understood: it means everything from whey powder to eggs to salmon to brisket. Any nutrition conscious diner will comprehend what is meant by protein. It is used constantly in food marketing language, on packaging, in food descriptions, and is on every nutrition facts label. I say this to demonstrate that OP's visceral negative reaction is an outlier these days.

i feel like youre talking about me.

yeah it didnt help that the menu i was looking at looked like a scary clown carnvial flyer. i was looking all over the damn place for a defintion of 'the proteins'.

just list the damn choices and dont make me hunt down the menu for a definition of these magical proteins. seems lazy and dumb.

This is exactly why "protein" is the preferred term. If you tell the average customer "choose any meat" they will immediately think of hoofed animals, not feathered nor scaled nor shelled animals. This creates too much confusion and "protein" simplifies that.

Eggs, tempeh, soy, legumes, & new alternative meat substitutes create a whole 'nothah level of confusion. Most consumers have at least a high school education (or equivalent) and can discern what "protein" is from the limited education they received on nutrition.

It's not that difficult to understand...

Well, was it a slider?

Because a 1oz burger is minuscule, especially pre-cooked weight.

I think all they burgers be sliders. not 100% certain. like i said, i bounced when the guy wearing spacer earrings told me it's 1 ounce of protein for $3.50. of course, that included a slice of pickle as well.

i did the math on what a half pound of protein would cost me and then made my exit
