Anyone else turned off by this term all restaurants seem to be using now?
just say 'pick chicken or beef'. the 'one protein' thing for some reason nauseates me and makes me think they're trying to serve me soylent green or something.
when did this become a 'thing'?
oh and get off my lawn!

I agree 100%.
It sounds silly and pretentious.

How do you recommend they word it if they offer chicken, beef, pork, fish, shrimp?

Is this in reference to like a build your own bowl/burrito/etc. place? That's the only places I could think that would say that, and it makes sense if they have more than just chicken or beef. Especially if seafood is an option.
I guess they could just say "choose one" and have them all listed..

That is what I was thinking. I have only seen this at places like Izzo's.
I agree. List options, say "Choose One"

I hate the way they use "protein" now as well.

weird thing to get worked up over.

Both flesh from a living animal. If not meat, would you say they are a fruit or a vegetable? Maybe dairy or grain?

I use protein that way, therefore I'm not bothered when others do. If it makes you nauseated, that's just silly. Now if I offered you a choice of poo (dog, cat, roach, or rat), that should make you nauseated.

Maybe a restaurant with pictures of a little chicken or cow would be your speed?

No, but I'm not a jackass that looks to complain about every change society makes.

this is where they decided, three years earlier, to specifically list "salt" as an ingredient in menu descriptions written. in. woefully. incomplete. sentences.
