You’ve got that right. We’ve been in Natchitoches since mid January and we haven’t missed a beat. We’ve enjoyed eating and drinking everywhere with not a single hiccup.
We leave in 2 weeks. It’s been fun, but time to get home.

In Baton Rouge is glaringly evident that different establishments have to adhere to different rules.

You ended up better off. Willies is much better than the Chimes on Coursey. That place is nothing like the original and their parking lot is a pain the arse at peak times.

Really has been and it's been awful. Went to vitis campus and was all excited since I missed tailgating this year. One of the things I most look forward to in MR is a few beers at the bar at Chimes, maybe a few raw oysters....nope. They have tables weirdly next to the bar, but not AT the bar.... was weirdly heartbreaking to have that taken away by COVID stupid

You know, this is something I've wondered as well. There are places who have basically done whatever they wanted this entire time (very popular places too) and barely gotten in any sort of trouble for it.
Then there are places like Chimes/Bulldog where they're over the top strict, but they've said they have to be because they have a target on them. I wonder if they truly do have a target on them, or if they are just afraid to test the waters?
Some of the places that have basically been doing what they want aren't exactly chummy with cops/ATC/politicians or anything (some are though), so its a head scratcher.

I think the idea behind it is people sitting at a table together generally know each other or are from the same household, while people sitting at a bar are generally strangers. The thought is those that live together are already in close proximity to each other, so them sitting together isn't putting them at risk. It was likely a compromise rule to allow restaurants to open and start making money again.
None of that really speaks to the safety of the restaurant employees or other guests though, so i definitely get the argument that it's dumb.

But most bars tackle this by removing most of the bar stools such that only people that know each other can sit in close proximity. Safety is accomplished, but people can still sit at the bar. Chimes is just being dumb

Chimes crawfish etouffee is very good, along with their chargrilled oysters. Not much stuff on their menu is all that great though. Sucks that they wouldn't accommodate your group.

The Chimes in Covington doesn’t have any restrictions.
I’ve been to the Chimes on Coursey and I’ll never be back. It’s an odd mixture of people for the area.
