Search bar is garbage. Someone posted their closest recipe of calvins chicken salad here a while back. Anyone still have that recipe or have that thread bookmarked? Thanks

Someone set out to recreate the Swanson recipe, I may give it a go in a few weeks. Does anyone know if Calvin's use a Robo Coupe or a Buffalo chopper?

LINK

From website:

1 Heaping T Sugar
1 t Dehydrated Garlic Slices
1 t Dehydrated Onion Slices
1 t MSG
1 t Target Salt & Vinegar Snack Powder (or one of these)
2 Teaspoons SPIKE Veg-It Yeast Enriched, Salt Free Seasoning (from the Healthfood Store)
Mayo
Swanson Canned Chicken

Mix up spread on bread and eat....

DO NOT SKIP THE SPIKE/VEG-IT!!!!! DO NOT SUB NUTRITIONAL YEAST. VEG-IT CONTAINS OTHER SPICES THAT NOOCH DOESNT

The all caps is copy/paste from the website. Swansons Chicken Salad Seasoning was what Calvin's supposedly used to in their recipe before it was discontinued years ago.

Way too easy to pick up a tub @ Fresh Market. Best chicken salad I’ve ever eaten…

I don't get the reverence for CCS, it's not all that.

My opinion is it’s great. I have similar ingredients so will do my own version tomorrow.

5 parts cheap mayo
1 part pureed 5 day old roast chicken that didn't sell
Tastes like baby food
I don't understand why it's so popular

Yes, but don't try to spread this sacrilege to the Calvin's purists. They won't go to a store that takes EBT cards, so we're safe.

Fresh Market

Fresh Market's chicken salad is pretty good.

I used to like the spreadable Chicken Salad at Calandro's on Siegen, even better than Calvin's. I've tried the spreadable Chicken Salad at Calandro's on Government and it's not the same.

When I make it myself I use the Neiman Marcus recipe:

2 lbs boneless skinless chicken breast shredded (I use decent rotisserie chicken from Sprouts or Fresh Market) or poach the chicken myself.
1/2 cup diced celery
1/2 cup of Mayonnaise
1 tablespoon of Apple cider vinegar
3 tablespoons of heavy cream
1 1/2 teaspoons of kosher salt
1/8 teaspoon of white pepper

Mix the wet ingredients together first and add the seasoning. Then mix the mayonnaise sauce with the chicken and combine.. then add the celery and mix til combined.

Last I checked, they use Hellman's.

They have an old buffalo chopper on display on top of one of their aisles, so maybe they do?
