Cafe’ Du Monde French Market. Do you stand in the takeout line or just sit at a table?

I always get a chuckle out of the tourists standing in the “takeout” line while all the local just walk past them and sit at a vacant table. What’s your move?

The table line is usually longer than the take out line, you just cut that MFer? I usually just eat them at off times as a snack.

Got to Cafe Beignet on Bourbon or Royal and avoid the line all together

I’ve only been there a few times and usually with older family members.

They just walk in and find an open table.

amen. Hit any of the other 10,000 places that sell coffee and breakfast pastries. I appreciate the charm and draw of the place, but its way too much effort IMO.

I live in Mid-City and absolutely hate heading down to the Quarter, so my option is Morning Call in City Park----well, for at least as long as they have that location.

Easier for the wife and I to get to, no parking issues, no traffic and if the day is nice enough, an easy bike ride to boot.

If I want to take someone to Cafe Du Monde, I usually just go to the riverwalk location if we are near the quarter. It's never got much of a line either.

I honestly don’t think I’ve ever been. My mom made awesome beignets growing up and I’ve been to other cafe du monde locations (even the one in Atlanta ) so I never needed to go.

Yep, this is where I point people to do if they can get away from the quarter. It's nice for them to see other parts of the city and if they have kids City Park is a great place in general.

Go to the door of the indoor eating area and sit at the first available table.

Any local doesnt go through all that madness for a glorified funnel cake served by Asians

This is the go-to move. Walk past all the tourists standing in line and go inside and sit down.

I doubt many locals - like actual New Orleanians, not ppl from Slidell - go to CdM in the FQ very often.

Can’t remember the last time I went. Maybe in high school or something.

My dad did this when I was a kid and I just kind of gawked at him as he sat at a dirty table. It makes some sense though. The wait staff are not employees of cafe du monde and work for tips only. They couldn't give a frick if you came from the line or not.

Especially when it's hot out. Inside is air-conditioned...

It's the only way I'll do it and they way I've always done it. One time, we saw some LSU fans in a very long line, so we took them out of line and brought them up with us.

I don't go very often at all. Probably once or twice in the last 5 years or so, but sometimes, I enjoy going for the hot beignets and coffee and the kids like to go

Only when they have out of town guests and are showing them the city. But you're right, nobody who lives in the area bothers with the hassle.
