What's the FD boards opinion on buffets?

I honestly haven't been to one in over a decade. When I was younger and in college, of course, I went to some. As I got older I found them dirty, unappetizing, food not too good, and to be completely judgemental sometimes the clientele's personal hygiene would turn me off.

Ditto

Unless it’s a nice buffet at a reception

A well done buffet with professional and knowledgeable attendants is a great way to serve a lot of diners with multiple tastes. As long as the food is well presented and maintained temperature-wise I’m definitely a fan

Good call. I guess that is a buffet and I do eat at receptions so my OP is not totally accurate.

I was thinking more of restaurant buffets.

Fogo de chao is legit. There is also an all you can eat sushi/japanese restaurant right next to the Braves stadium that is killer. They make all of it to order...its not sitting out, so not sure its a buffet though.

In BR, Bay Leaf and Swagat both have very good Indian lunch buffets on the weekends.

I've enjoyed the breakfast buffets that I've gone to, that are in nicer hotels, and they make your omelet to order.

I'm not that crazy about restaurant buffets.

They're not really worth it unless you can find one where they don't pay much attention and you can eat, hide out till you're hungry again, then go back through. Those are great

Seconded. Their buffets are tasty during the week too.
If you are closer to downtown/Mid City, Thai Pepper has a good lunch buffet.

Generally they are disgusting with low quality food. That being said I still miss the Great Wall in Baton Rouge. I know it wasnt good food but but could tear that place up.

As a rule, I don't like them. However, my local Indian place does a damn good buffet.
