Nostalgia is a powerful thing. People from NOLA or with some family connection there love Bud's. I'm not a fan of Buds. Buds and Hubig pies are so nostalgic, they skew opinions from the locals too positive.

I grew up across the street from one and rode my bike there and ate all the time. It's all nostalgia. The food is not good

What's the price of a hamburger from there? I haven't been in 10 years.

Not good? Are you serious? Stop trolling. Their burgers and fries are good.

ETA. Which Buds did you go to as a kid?

I'm pretty neutral on the matter. Didn't grow up in NOLA but have been there a few times during the couple years I lived there. Neither great nor terrible. I'd guess nostalgia definitely is in play here. I'd say it's probably about average for a fast food level burger.

If it's not your favorite, cool. Saying it's not good at all, is just hating.

Dude it's not good. It's a shitty burger joint that is going to survive because of its name and the nostalgia aspect.

If Dearmans was opening up a store in nola, it would get laughed right out of the city and this board by the nola people.

Disagree.

Bud's is the definition of a drunk burger. Tigerland is going to be mass profits. Keep in mind, you're talking about a crowd that needs Taco Bell post drinking. Bud's will print money. It's not objectively good, but it's catering to the clientele. I'm struggling to see how this model could fail. Give it 6 weeks and the non-NOLA undergrads will embrace it.

Bud definitely fills a niche. On top of multiple convenient locations, there are not many places that bring

Open late
Char broiled style burger
The shredded cheese
Smoke sauce
Chili
The above toppings on fries option
Cheap
Good ice
Video poker
Hot dogs
On Waitr now for ultimate hangover cure

Blurb in 225 magazine said to expect this to open by end of July, but I haven't seen any reno work being done since the Dive Bar closed.

Anyone know when they are looking to open?
