how often is this a problem for you? most restaurants don't even offer a brunch menu, and for those that do, it's at most twice a week and often only once.
Dude mentions waiting 2hrs to eat. Does not eat out much and likely does not understand quality food from bad.

OP, at least come back and tell us where this brunch was.
Sounds like maybe Another Broken Egg in a tourist area.

Plenty of people sit around forever for a mediocre brunch, but likewise check out an Applebees at dinner in a Friday night.
A good brunch can be real solid though. I’m not always trying to make my own biscuits and hollandaise and different meats and egg styles for everyone and… just like I can make most dinners at home but sometimes it’s nice to go enjoy the company and let others do the work.

Agree. Never been a fan of brunch.
You will get hated on with people saying dude you get drunk and eat bacon! Cool, I can get shithammered at lunch eating regular food and not spruced up eggs 10 ways while drinking flavored oj.
Yeah it's silly.
Whatever the social concept of creating more complexity for complexity's sake (often masked as fancy) is named, it applies directly to brunch.

I like going to brunch, but I do agree it’s annoying when they don’t serve their regular menu in conjunction with the brunch menu. Sometimes on a Sunday I just want regular food.
I’m just glad we live where we do because brunch in say the Midwest is super limited. At least in Louisiana we have stuff like BBQ shrimp (or redfish) and grits, fried oyster Benedict, crawfish omelets, etc. as options.

Or for me, if not regular menu, something besides eggs and pancakes.
But since you can go online these days and find out, no reason to go somewhere where they don’t serve what one wants.
And for another post in this thread, if you can’t find something you like at Another Broken Egg, you are way too picky.

I agree, but they can be a shitshow with long waits and they don’t take reservations

The hell you say....brunch , after a day of drinking, is a gift from God. More American than apple pie.

Ah yes, I understand.
I am not big on waiting myself unless I plan for it.

Brunch vibes are elite, especially when you're a little hungover from Saturday night and you flip it to a little buzz that you go home and sleep off mid afternoon while golf is on the TV.

I actually agree because I find most brunch menus overpriced and not that good. Brunch is a great concept, though.

This is my issue with some of these brunch restaurants. My parents love eating brunch at Cafe Americain. Their “brunch” menu is a weird hybrid of their dinner menu and a brunch menu. For instance I can’t get a club sandwich (which is on their normal menu), but I can get a full fried seafood platter.
I comment on it every time I go to meet them. How the hell don’t you have a club sandwich on your brunch menu when it’s already on your “regular” menu.

I mean, why go out to any restaurant at any time when you can make a meal at home?
You go out to enjoy a meal and take a morning, afternoon, or evening off from preparing meals and meet up with family and friends, or a special occasion with your spouse.

agree.
it's always a stomach ache for me. i'd rather have a poboy, tacos, wings, whatever and then start drinking. no need to add maple syrup and eggs.

Paid $16 for my chicken and waffles with delicious bourbon bacon jam today. Flight of mimosas was tasty. Lunch is also served along with brunch options. Had a reservation so no waiting.
Legit thought this was a satire post
I’m not a fan of packed restaurants so brunch is definitely not my thing

Athens (downtown) is about to lose its last breakfast place, a 60+ year old "greasy spoon" called The Mayflower. Once they close later this year, every downtown restaurant will be brunch, which sucks because nobody's brunch starts until like 10am. And only on weekends. So breakfast spots around Athens will just be fast food and waffle house. But not because of a lack of good restaurants, but because the Brunch Wave has killed breakfast.
ETA- nothing wrong with waffle house for breakfast, nothing wrong with Bojangles breakfast biscuits.

I know I’m the minority but I just don’t like starting the day with a big breakfast, especially on vacation or the weekend
Give me a sausage egg and cheese or croissant and a cold brew then a good lunch

Mama's Boy really needs a downtown location.

I don't disagree with you, but to be fair, most places serve brunch until 2/3 and don't get busy until lunchtime.
I don't eat breakfast ever in life, but I like a Sunday 11am brunch.

Producing “brunch” is a royal pain in the arse for restaurants. It sounds like a great idea on Wednesday afternoon sitting in an office but Sunday at 9AM it’s like entering purgatory with no end in sight.
