Chocolate Lave Cake is so good! I think it might be as good as my favorite Pecan Pralines 'n Cream.

Years ago, a ship would come to Exxon Dock in Baton Rouge, then go to Baytown, Tx. After loaded, it would go up the East Coast. It got all its supplies in Texas for one thing, Blue Bell Ice Cream. This was back in the mid 70’s.
The chef on the ship was from NOLA. He made a great Boston Cream Pie, he’d see me and say, there’s a pie up there with your name on it.

HEB Texas Starry Night and their Intense Chocolate are great.
As for Blue Bell, Magnolia Press Chocolate Cake is among the better ice creams I've had. I guess it's only sold at the Gaines place in Waco but I had it at the Blue Bell Creamery in Brenham.
Side note: a really nice trip is to eat BBQ at Truth in Brenham and then visit the Creamery afterwards.

I switched from Blue Bell to Publix Premium Ice Cream. They do a limited edition “Peanut-butter Pie” flavor that is the best ice cream I’ve ever had at that price point.
”Peanut butter cheesecake flavored ice cream with swirls of Mackinac peanut butter cookie ribbons and chocolate flavored pieces”.
Fantastic.

Oh Paul, lots of downvotes, but Bluebell relies more on added sugar to flavor. Lots of other better ice cream like Ben or Tillamook. People rather sweet and artificial flavor than creamy and natural.

The greatest bluebell flavor was Mexican praline. I have not seen it in years.

If you have ever been to a Mexican grocery or restaurant, they used to keep these sugar pecan candies by the cash register. I’m not sure how to describe the flavor but it’s different than a normal praline. Very distinctive and delicious. Bluebell basically did their pralines and cream, but used these. Mexican treats instead.
I am with you that as of now Pralines and Cream is my favorite flavor but only because the Mexican praline is not available.
