Seer sucker suit season is upon us, and everyone knows what that means: a trip to Mary Mahoney’s. It was and is one of the family’s Eastertide traditions. Be sure you save time, at least three hours, for the George Ohr Museum nearby. Grandmother donated one of the most beautiful pieces in the collection.

We once ate at the Ruth’s Chris in 2010. We wondered why it was filled with less than savory people, so Uncle asked if we could be moved to the private room. Our waiter told us we couldn’t because there were some “big rollers” already occupying the room. Upon further inquiry, we discovered the restaurant was inside a building whose purpose is gambling. We immediately got up , informed other diners of this travesty, and left. I do not recommend being associated with any business operating in or through a casino.

I dont know your budget, but White Pillars is hard to beat.

One Thirty One Lameuse is really good too.

I once ventured into the buffet section of the Beau Rivage. We had stopped there for the night before heading into NOLA for a Sugar Bowl.

Myself, my son and his friend had an amusing time. It looked like a convention for defensive tackles or their parents.

We still quote a line from one of these costumers going to his table with a plate in each hand...

"Honey, they got everything here even wings and hushpuppies"!

It's good that they put the restaurant on solid ground instead of the barge.

Waffle House across from the Beau is one of the best around

I stayed at theBeau Rivagg a few weeks ago as I do 2 or 3 times a year. My favorite restaurants on the coast are in there.

BR Prime is my favorite.
Stalla Italian restaurant is very good as is Jia, the Asian restaurant.

If you want to take a short walk, Mary Mahoney’s and the Half Shell are across the street.

I have never been to the White Pillars. I need to try it.

The best Half Shell is the one inside Hard Rock. It’s the only one with a sushi menu, which means it’s the only one where you can get Dynamite Lobster. It’s fried chunks of lobster tail with a sauce and other stuff topping it - my favorite food item at any restaurant locally.

Best hamburgers are at The Project Lounge.
