Is what we call "French bread" really German bread? I'd say yes, judging by the names of the bakers.

Although the majority of what we know as proper "po-boy" bread is baked by a German bakery (Leidenheimer) ... it was created for the Martin brothers by Italians ... Gendusa.

To add irony,Central Grocery, the creators of the muffelatta, have been getting their muffelatta bread from Leidenheimer post-Katrina.

It's a true representation of how all the different ethnicities go together to form the Creole culture.

Not sure about best but three I've made recently we're pretty good.

Leg of lamb, mayo, whole grain mustard, lettuce tomato salt and pepper on toasted sourdough.

Grilled redfish, homemade tartar sauce, lettuce, tomato, pickle, salt and pepper on a toasted onion roll.

Roasted red bellpepper, bacon, mayonnaise, salt and a lot of black pepper blended in the food processor into a chunky spread and served on wheat bread as a finger sandwich. Made this yesterday.
