I have some young guys in for work from Kansas. They’ve never heard of a muffaletta. Don’t have time to go to New Orleans to central grocery.
Where is the best muffuletta in Baton Rouge?

Agree that Cannatella's muff is the best.
From Anthony's, I like their meatball sub. I like how they chop up the meatballs and press the sandwich flat like a Cuban would be. Meatball subs with huge whole meatballs on them are delicious but so difficult to eat.

How does Canatella’s compare to Central Grocery?

The girl making sandwiches smiles at me there. They have Monday special

It's not close. But one of these places is within walking distance of my house, the other involves driving to New Orleans, paying for parking and hoofing it a few blocks.

Am I the only one who was underwhelmed by Central Grocery’s muffuletta? I just prefer them warm.

I prefer Frank's to Central Grocery in the FQ. CG makes all their muffs in the morning, and they sit around until sold. Frank's will make you a fresh muff on request. Frank's is only two doors down from CG.

A muffuletta has to be warm. Warm meat, melted cheese, crispy bread.

Me too. Gotta be warm and toasty.
