I BBQ myself a lot, so I don’t go to many restaurants. But I have really enjoyed

Swallow at the Hollow in Roswell, GA. RIP...
The guy behind the Swallow has several 'Cue locations in metro Atlanta. 'Cue is very similar to the Swallow and worth trying.
But I'm going with Central BBQ in Memphis.

Ever been to Bogarts?
I have not. I live in west suburbia and since retirement, I don't care if I ever drive into the city again.
I hear their ribs are really good though.

Rodney Scott’s in Hemingway, SC
Saltlick about 20 miles from Austin
Hog Heaven in Nashville for their ribs
These are places I will go out of my way to eat at again if I get the chance.

Little Miss BBQ in Phoenix has the best brisket I've ever eaten in a restaurant. Double up on the jalapeno cheese grits for your side.

Best no matter what you get - Melvin's, Mt. Pleasant, SC
Best brisket - Fox Bros., Atl
Best do one thing and do it damn good - Fresh Air, Jackson, GA (pulled pork from smoked picnic hams and Brunswick stew).
Still need to try Rodney Scotts, Home Team, and Snows.

Stanley’s in Tyler, TX (just deliciousness all the way around)
Smitty’s in Lockhart, TX (best brisket)
Pecan Lodge in Dallas, TX (beef ribs and brisket)
Black’s in Lockhart, TX (for beef ribs)
Lockhart’s in Dallas (great smoked bird)
Hutchin’s BBQ in McKinney, TX (great brisket)
and while not as good, I really like Hard 8 in Coppell, TX. They cook a great open fire steak.

There was a place here in town that had the best ribs I ever had. It was called Smokey Joe's. It was torn down a few years ago. All that remains is the gravel parking lot of where it used to be.
It was a little small place. You walked up and there was a window that they slid open so you could tell them what you wanted. (The menu was hanging above the sliding window. They used those old letters and numbers that you'd push into a menu board, like at some mom and pop places, which this was) Then you had to wait on the step that you walked up to get to the window until they slid it back open and gave you your order. There were a few picnic tables in the parking lot but aside from that, there was no place to sit and eat so many people just got it to go, obviously.
I remember the ribs were put in a foil lined bag. They were insanely good. I wish that place was still there.
I've tried other places and it's ok but I've never had any ribs that came close to this place.

Been to a lot of the best in Texas and it's tough to pick just 1 and it also depends on what type of BBQ you're looking for. The trend these days has become more Hill Country style with the nicer cuts of meat but I grew up on more of the poor East Texas BBQ that's kinda now considered black style BBQ. I love the new stuff but $25 plus for a plate is kinda silly.

Best brisket - Fox Bros., Atl
If you like Fox Brothers and are in the Atlanta metro, try Loyal Q in Alpharetta, on Old Milton. To me, their brisket is better than Fox Brothers.
I'm surprised no one from the ATL has mentioned Heirloom yet. They are pretty solid.
One of these days, I will make it out to Texas and sample some of their legendary brisket. Looking forward to that. I had brisket tacos today, off my grill, and I think they are comparable to other Atlanta brisket, but then, I haven't been to Texas...

Depends on the type of meat.
Pinkertons in Houston has the best pork ribs I’ve ever had.
Truth has the best brisket I’ve ever had.
KD’s in midland has the best sausage I’ve ever had.
I can’t remember the place in Bakersfield but it was by the airport and had the best pulled pork.

Ray's BBQ in Houston would be the best I have ever had.

Mine are in no particular order and based mainly around my travels with my job.
Big Bob Gibson in Decatur, AL has really good chicken with this white Alabama BBQ sauce. I was reluctant to try that white sauce but oh my it sure pairs well with chicken.
Dreamland BBQ in Tuscaloosa has really good ribs. They’ve opened up many new locations that aren’t equal to the one in Tuscaloosa. I like their BBQ sauce.
Killen’s BBQ outside of Houston had really good beef ribs and I liked their brisket.
The Pit Room in Houston had great beef ribs and brisket.
Pecan Lodge in Dallas was excellent the day I went. Loved their beef ribs and brisket.
Lockhart Smokehouse in Dallas had good brisket. I don’t think I tried beef ribs there.
Black’s or Terry Blacks in Austin. I can’t remember the name but it had the name Black in it. The BBQ there was good.
Memphis BBQ Company right across the border in Horn Lake was tasty. I loved their pork ribs. I believe the owner is Melissa Cookston that’s been on a lot of these competition cooking shows.
Heirloom BBQ in the Atlanta area was different but I really liked everything I’ve eaten there. That place is Texas meets Korea and had a bbq baby.
