Wife and I want to get a room in Lafayette one weekend night to go shoot pool and have a few drinks. Haven't done that in years and we're both in our upper 40's. What's a good place for that in Lafayette? A quick Google search for pool tables came back with Max's. Is that a decent spot for middle aged out of towners?

I happened to go to Max's pool hall a few weeks ago. I went during the day to drink a few beers, watch LSU baseball and get away from the Braxxtons running around the hotel I was staying at. I can confirm that it is a bar with many pool tables. None of which were being used while I was there. I talked to the owner, Max, for a while. Cool old dude.

I kind of like that there's a Hilton basically in the parking lot of Max's. That's another thing, I'm too old for DWI's. Lol

Max’s dad had a grocery store (Adrien’s) there many years ago. Max might own that whole little strip right there, but I’m not positive.

Sticks on Ambassador is a bar with pool tables. Don’t know what the vibe is, though.

He does. Max's would be my choice, but I prefer that type of bar.

Should have gotten the Max Burger while there. One of the best in Lafayette.

You mean next to the Burger Tyme on Johnston at Meadow ? Ricochet was on Ambassador but closed a year or so ago and now is another nail salon.

Max's is a cool, chill place for that.

I HIGHLY recommend getting a double bacon cheese burger with grilled onions while there.

I didn’t know that’s what I meant, but apparently, that’s what I meant.

Max's is great.

Tons of tables, cold cheap beer, one of the best burgers in town.

And a handful of Lays potato chips on the side of that burger!

Went there many times for lunch and wound up back at the office just in time to log off and go home feeling right. Good times.

I also recommend Max's.

That used to be the service industry spot about 10 years ago.

OP if you stary near Max's and eat a burger, the next morning you need to do breakfast at T-Coon's which is in the same strip of businesses. Crawfish omelet and beignets are spot on
