We do take it personal because it’s one of the few things the city has going for it.
I don’t mind criticism but it was all just kinda half assed on why his meal wasn’t good. Almost like he just wanted to cause a stir.

Like I said earlier, every restaurant is going to have down days no matter how good it is. Especially during these times.
The past couple of weeks and the next few are going to be really hard on restaurants. EVERYONE is going back out to eat. I went out to eat 3 times this past weekend and every place was PACKED. But no one has enough staff. And the staff they have is mostly super inexperienced.
It is trying times.
Peche is a good restaurant. It is consistent and the food is delicious. Nothing on the menu is some crazy culinary concoction, its just really good food.
Give it some time and try it again. Get the tartare, and some of the raw preparations/crudos. The Seafood Platter is excellent value.

I couldn't care less about Peche. Judging a restaurant on one trip on a really busy day when pretty much everywhere has staffing issues is just silly.

To be fair, you didn’t order the items everyone raves about in the threads you said you read. Like I said, all items on the menu should be good but you didn’t even say it wasn’t good anyway. So sounds about right to me
You ordered baked fish and it didn’t wow you. That’s understandable. But you should certainly go back and try the fan favorites before writing the place off. For your own sake, not us. It’s a good place.

I think one thing with the food at Peche is that ever local raves about it so people come in expecting something else. I think they expect a "chefy" restaurant like August, or Le Bernadin or something.
It isn't that (I mean...I guess it is compared to Oceana or Deanie's). It is a relatively casual restaurant that takes quality seafood/ingredients and does them well, and elevates them beyond the typical New Orleans seafood joint.
The "chefiest" things on the menu are probably the crudos and the tartare both which are excellent. just the simple peel and eat shrimp in the seafood platter are incredibly well done.

True.
My experience there was 3 years ago. I offered an honest opinion.
People reacted like I insulted their mother. I even said it was good but not as good as expected based on what I read.

Can't say I remember your post about Peche, but I've definitely experienced places that didn't live up to the hype.

I like Justine ok, and I love French food, but I do feel like the food itself is very underwhelming.
The restaurant space is gorgeous and the service is good. Its a fun atmosphere. The food is fine.

Because you should have read the news and known moron... only people that have complained went on a holiday or major weekend like graduation but then have expectations that you could get in and out... after you admitted they were packed..... I guarantee they were short wait staff and cooks.
medical offices much less service industry are having hard time employing people due to stimulus checks and unemployment benefits... you’d be an idiot to not know this

I mean if you got drinks, apps, maybe some raw things, then that’s completely reasonable. I wouldn’t expect a meal there where we were celebrating to take less than 1.5-2 hours.

ETA - they told us to order all it once. Not order apps, then order entrees later.

That’s too bad; I had an awesome experience at Peche. The food was delicious, and the service was great. As others have said, maybe give it another try.
