Abita strawberry is great with crawfish

I never said it was greatest beer made.
It's not even one of my favorite beers.
But to say its crap is utterly fricking stupid.

Yes, it is, especially a few at the tail end, as a peppery palate cleanser.

Great after yard work too

True. It's partial crap.
Actually, I can drink one and sort of enjoy it. More than that? Nah.

It's pretty weak and fizzy, even for a fruit beer. It tastes more like soda to me.
Abita should take some notes from New Glarus on that style.

That's last years. I personally wouldn't drink it and its pretty stupid of their rep to just let it sit there...

I came here to post this exact same thing.
It balances the spice from the bugs perfectly. Best beer to pair with crawfish in the history of beer and crawfish.

I think it's a decent beer, especially on a hot day after yard work. I think it's a great crawfish boil beer also.
Is it the best beer going, of course not. I don't see anyone saying that. The amount of hate Abita gets on here is amazing to me. Some people have genuine arguments for it, but it seems like others just want to hop on a beer snob bandwagon. Heaven forbid if someone actually likes an Abita product. It's like it's a personal insult to like it.

Yeah I don't get the hate that a select few have for Abita.
I'm proud it's a Louisiana beer.
Cold 34oz purple haze the summer is hard to beat.
Abita amber on tap has been go to beer for a long time, it's solid beer as they come.

not really

Dammit, Salmon said not really. Obviously that invalidates your opinion Lee.

Actually that's not the truth. Millions of people like the Kardashians and Justin Beiber and they are both crap. I love Strawberry, but could understand why people dislike it. Hell I would prefer if most people didn't like it, more for me.
ETA: I love when people argue about beer. They think their opinion is so matter of fact.

I'm the first one to say Abita is a disappointing brewery. Not bad, not crappy, just plain and boring. 80% of their product is the same style and when they brew an IPA (Jockamo) or seasonal (Pecan/Satsuma) it's pretty meh. I do give them points for trying and I'm glad they're in LA...but you can't compare them to other local guys like NOLA and Parish.
I do enjoy their Strawberry though, its refreshing and not a beer I can handle too much of...but for that spring crawfish boil it's tough to beat.

This!
I'm not sure why the defenders of Abita always get upset and claim that we all hate Abita. It just could be so much better.
Yes I'm glad they are a local company that has helped many people move away from BMC products, but they deserve the criticism they get.
