I’m thinking OP has never had a good steak.
Don’t get me wrong, I love a good burger. I make a mean stuffed bacon Gouda cheese is burger but give me a 2” bone in medium rare ribeye every day of the week!

I like my meat dead so don't really get the flavor of a truly desired steak so don't see the point buying them myself.
What?

I like pork and all but it's generally so much less flavorful than a good cut of beef. A medium/medium rare steak is still cooked. I'll eat a burger medium too.

I know it's probably an unpopular view, but I do. Anyone else?
I’m a 2” bone in ribeye man myself. However, I have a buddy that owns an old style butcher shop. The steaks aren’t precut. You walk in, make your selections, and tell him how thick you want each steak and he hand cuts them right in front of you. Naturally he trims fat off these steaks. I’ll occasionally get him to grind me some ribeye into hamburger meat and he adds that cut off fat. That hamburger meat he gets for me is truly amazing. If I’m not mistaken Henry Ford’s chef used to cook his burgers like that. To answer your question OP I prefer the ribeye I mentioned above but I can’t eat that all the time. Now that ribeye burger I could eat 2-3 times a week and not get burned out on it.

Absolutely. A really good hamburger is better than a good steak.

That sucks

Yes, they are very different and it depends on which one I want. If I want a steak, the burger won't satisfy. Same if I want a burger.

I’d rather a burger. And I can cook either at restaurant quality. There are more variables to finding a quality cut of steak

While on vacation this past week, I grilled burgers one night and prime ribeyes/NY Strips another night.
The steaks were great, but biting into that perfectly grilled over charcoal burger was probably better.

Absolutely, I do love a prime rib eye, though.

Pretty much any good grocery store will cut your steaks to order.

Naturally he trims fat off these steaks.
Why the hell would he go that?

A good hamburger has its place, and so does a good steak, right in front of me.

Not really. Just order from SRF or someplace. You’ll get a high quality cut. Pretty foolproof.

Yellowfin this place is just unique. Sure stores will cut you a steak but this place is just old school. It’s called Mosley’s Meat Market in Mobile and there is one over in Daphne. It’s family owned and been in business forever. I like how they pull the entire ribeye out from behind the counter, lay it out on a big maple cutting board, and cut it right there while you talk. I like that it’s family owned and I know the butchers/owners by name. When I say cut the fat off I’m talking about just trimming it up some on the ends or edges so you aren’t paying for something not edible that other places might try to slide in on you. They knock that fat off into a can and will make special hamburger grinds which would be hard to get at a say Fresh Market. If I wanted something odd like a ribeye, brisket and short rib ground into hamburger meat my guy will do that for me.

When I was growing up and the family would host a BBQ or go to someone else's house for a BBQ, there were bbq steaks/chicken for the adults and for the kids a "mock filet" - A strip of bacon wrapped around a thick hamburger patty and bbq'ed. You don't see this much anymore, but I remember that these were very good - you ate them like a steak, not in a bun.

Not only do I prefer a hamburger but 9 times out of 10 I prefer a burger from Burger King over a $10 gourmet burger.
I agree with this. I know what I'm getting with a BK burger, and it's usually always what I expect.
But I've been let down by a gourmet burger several times because it doesn't meet expectations. I'd certainly take a regular 80/20 burger from my grill over most of the "gourmet" burgers I've had. And I don't do anything special, just some Tony's and on the grill.

Moe by parents and their friends did the same.

Never heard them called mock filet. Dad just called them hamburger steak. I know restaurants still serve hamburger steak(just a ground sirloin patty), but I haven't seen one wrapped in bacon in years. Loved those as a kid. Dad would baste them with Heinz 57 sauce.
I may make some this week now.
