I’ve heard a lot about it but haven’t taken the leap yet. Is it as good as advertised? Any comparisons? Any local places make it better?

It's more like a dip than a chicken salad

Its good.

Martin's is in 2nd place for me, but the ranch chips they make in house make the drive to Calvin's not worth it.

If you like a chunky chicken salad, it won't be for you. It's almost like they put it in a food processor. But I love it. It's really good with crackers!

All this.

Give me a sleeve of Ritz crackers and a Miller High Life and I'm a happy man.

Very good, very creamy. I buy it about every other month for easy sandwiches.

can't blame you for doing all of the research and homework possible before committing to buy a container of chicken salad. You can never be too careful

I’ve never found the allure. It’s not bad, but I don’t get the hype. It’s very dense and very plain.

If you like your chicken salad the consistency of baby food.
It's literally all mayo with some pureed chicken like substance.
Bring on the downvotes but I've never understood the attraction.

It could use a little hot sauce for some kick. I like it but needs a little pop.

I cut an avocado in half, stuff it CS, and then sprinkle Mexican seasoning on top. Legit!

They bake bone-in chicken breasts just for the chicken salad.

It’s great on a croissant with kettle chips.

It's especially good on Evangeline Maid bread, which is hard to find outside of the Lafayette area.. But Calvin's stocks it because it pairs so well with their chicken salad.

Now you listen to me. Take a big spoonful of it and slather it on a baked Hawaiian roll and then splash with hot sauce. You're fricking welcome, bud.

Initially I preferred Callandros chunky-style, but over the years Calvin's chicken "spread" has definitely grown on me. Recently met some NOLA people who occasionally drive to BTR just for Calvins CS. It's a Katrina thing.
