Has anything popped up within the past year or so that I should try in this area? Looking for non chain dinner spot to try.

The new Pyre BBQ joint just opened near the trailhead in Mandeville

Pat Gallagher opened his new restaurant on the Lakefront last year (Pat's Rest a While).

Avila grill next to Megumi on 22. I haven't tried it yet, but the menu looks very good. Venezuelan food.

Fuk that … I wouldn’t spend a dime supporting someone who promotes violence against innocent business owners.

We used to go to del Porto about once a month. We stopped completely. F#ck her.

We used to frequent Del Porto until she came uot supporting BLM. I hope her new venture Greyhound fails and she leaves town. Covington does not need people who advocate for the "burn it down" criminals.

Yup. She's an absolute count that needs to go out of business. I don't care about her political positions, but I do care when she openly supports civil chaos and violence. frick that bitch.

Wife mentioned this place, thanks for posting that. We won’t be trying it now.

We loved del Porto, but no more for us. 4 other couples have texted me about northshore dinners. I directed all of them elsewhere. Happy to do it.

Etoufee in Covington, behind Mugshots. Pretty decent Cajun restaurant. We have been once, will go again.

Im not exaggerating when I say that it is infested with flies. It’s insane.
Smoked wings were good though.

I was there yesterday. I saw a fly or two, not what I'd call an infestation. The brisket chili dog was amazing!

That’s good to hear. We went Friday night and it was really bad.

I hope the one in Mandeville does well, the one off 21 in Covington is always dead. Can’t serve good Q without any traffic. Was disappointed the one time we went.

Yea the Pyre in Covington off 21 is bad. We've been there twice - both times the place was dead and the food was below average. Its rare I say a place is bad, I'm not a food snob. I'll never go to the hwy 21 location again.

Sorry to hijack…how’s sweet daddy’s bbq? I see they are only open for lunch. We just moved to the area a few months ago so any suggestions would be great. TIA

When did y’all go? Every time I’ve gone was at dinner and it was packed. Good cocktails. Not the best bbq i’ve ever had but they had some unique dishes. Following their social media they have been very active in hurricane recovery which goes a long way in my book.
