Any good ham salad in Baton Rouge?

I know there has been several posts asking about good chicken salad and there have been many responses. I think Calvin's has been mentioned often.
What I'm asking is there a store or deli that sells a good ham salad...not just something made up in a bowl of lettuce but just a plain old plastic container filled with ham salad.

I have absolutely no idea what ham salad is. Not even a guess.
You compared it to chicken salad so if it’s chopped ham with a bunch of mayonnaise and onions I’ve never seen that offered as food anywhere I’ve ever shopped.

I have never noticed any place in BR that sells that. Frankly never heard of it before. where do you normally get It ?

I guess I was thinking of potted meat with other ingredient similar to what you put in chicken salad.
When I was younger in new Orleans I remember it had chopped onions, chopped celery. Shredded cheese, and even peas mixed with mayo. I remember the ham being loosely ground up.

Been all over the parish for 50 years and never heard such.
Rarely do I get caught by surprise, but today it happened.

yup I dont know anybody who makes that, but yeah I remember something like this. my mother still eats it occasionally to this day

Ditto. My mother still makes this. I've never had shredded cheese in it though. Usually for ham salad sandwiches for travel or finger sandwiches. The ham is usually diced in very small cubes and then mixed with ingredients in the same manner as chicken or tuna salad.

We have a honey baked ham in town (Vicksburg) that sells it. If you have a similar place or a sandwich shop nearby, they may sell it. Honey baked is the only place here that sells it. I enjoy it on a croissant.

Honey baked is good. Calvin’s used to do it but not sure they still do. I wasn’t a huge fan.

What’s the benefit of doing a ham salad over sliced ham? Chicken and tuna the reasoning is generally you are using meat that’s not suitable for ‘slicing’ or placing whole pieces on a bun. Ham generally this isn’t an issue.
Given that, sounds pretty good and I enjoy a good salad sandwich so IWEI.

we ate deviled ham sandwiches all the time as kids I assume it’s still sold in cans in the tuna fish aisle but I probably haven’t eaten it in 40 years or longer.
my mom mixed it with mayo/etc like tuna salad.
If you don’t want the canned meat experience maybe take some cubed ham and run it thru the food processor

Holiday Ham had a great ham salad sandwich if you have Holiday Ham in Louisiana. I'm surprised at the amount of people who have never heard of ham salad

Rouses Market has a good selection of "salads" ...chicken salad, egg salad, tune salad, potato salad, macaroni salad, cucumber salad, sweet pea salad and possibly ham salad.
