Who do you recommend that has the best andouille? Heading out there this week and want to stock up.

Jacobs world famous andouille is what I use for gumbo's along with some smoked chicken thighs from Bergeron's in Port Allen and my regular sausage is Lejeune's pork and green onion from Eunice . Use free range chicken breast from local farmer to round out the gumbo.....trust me its dam good!

I've bought from Bailey's on Airline Hwy. but I've heard Jacob's is also a very good option. I don't think you can go wrong with either one.

For the past few years I've been making my own and no longer buy from the shops in Laplace. It's saving me lots of money making my own since the last time I got some from Bailey's I think it was somewhere in the $6 a lb. range.

Just checked Bailey's on-line site and the price for smoked andouille is now $9.99 a lb.

Whoa. That’s a bit high. It’s been a while since I’ve bought any since my last buy was a big freezer fill up. I don’t think I’m filling up again like last time.

Does Bailey's still have the Mr. Hankey out front.

Alton Brown went there when he did "Feasting on Asphalt." The Original Diners, Drive-in, and Dives."

Don's in Reserve and Verons Supermarket in Lutcher also have good andouille.

Thighs are where it's at.

To reiterate what everyone else has said, you can't go wrong with Wayne Jacobs or Jacobs. I'm partial to Jacobs but I will gladly use Wayne Jacobs.

Veron's in Lutcher is legit.
D&J's in St Amant ain't bad either.
Jacob's is still probably the best.

Stopped this evening and WJ was closed. Door sign says they close at 2 on weekdays. Wound up going to Jacob’s instead. I planned to buy some from each of the three spots mentioned, but Bailey’s was also closed by the time I got out there. I wanted to do some side by side comparisons.

I may do a run out there at some point to hit all three, but this should do for now. Thanks for the suggestions
