You won't find bad andouille in LaPlace. "Best" is just a matter of preference. Pickup a few different types when you're there. I've had most and landed on Cox's Meat Market for gumbo and jambalaya. The best part about Cox's may be just walking into a 90 year old butcher shop.

And yeah, they're all like $10/lb now.

I planned to buy some from each of the three spots mentioned, but Bailey’s was also closed by the time I got out there. I wanted to do some side by side comparisons.

Did the same thing once. Wayne Jacobs won easily for me. Jacobs was second and Bailey's was third but all were good. Just depends on your taste preference. I stopped by Wayne's yesterday and picked up some andouille, Majoria's for temple meat and Veron's Market for the smoked sausage and tasso.

Are all of them spicy? While I prefer it on the spicier side, my wife and daughter throw a fit whenever my gumbo or beans have even a hint of spice. Of the 3 which would you say is the least spicy?

Open on Sundays if you have a last minute decision to cook gumbo.

I presume you're talking about cayenne spicy? None of them are to me. Bailey's would probably be your safest bet in that regard though. But if you're picking up some Bailey's I'd advise you to go grab a link from the other two since you're already there.

+1 for Wayne Jacobs

They close too early and sometimes they don't have pork andouille. Smoked chickens are good but not always available. They have really gone down hill lately!
