I’ve got 3 mason jars that I made last year. Hopefully it’s still good

I got a lot of sediment build up on the bottom of my bottle. Hope I didn't mess up using cane sugar instead of normal granulated sugar.

I am on week 3 with 3-4 weeks to go. Trying really hard to hold out.

sediment build up

Just shake it periodically. There should be some nutmeg sediment. I also scraped a vanilla bean into my batch so that accumulates too.

FYI granulated sugar is typically cane sugar down here.

Well y’all convinced me. I’m going to make a batch today.

Anyone do it with a stand mixer or just all by hand?

I’ve done both. With the stand you have to be careful that it all incorporates properly.

I made it 2 weeks before I just had to try it, and it was over from there. I'm gonna gain a ton of weight having access to this in my beer fridge..

I’ve done it both ways.
Stand mixer is much easier and not as messy. I’ll always use stand mixer from now on.
Sampled my batch from late September tonight…so good.

Did mine with an emulsion blender and it worked great.

Also, couldn't wait anymore and cracked one open this past Saturday (4 weeks aging). It was fantastic. Cant imagine how much better they are going to be in a couple more weeks.

IMO, no. Not in same league. But it’s not too late! Whatever you make with quality ingredients right now will be hands down better than grocery store stuff.

Shamrock Egg-Nog is EASILY the best store bought I've ever had! It's non-alcoholic so just add what you need

I've got to make some damn egg-nog now.

If I make it this weekend, it should be good drink by Christmas right?
And if I'm reading all of this correctly, i do not need to store it in the fridge?

to me it tastes great after a week. continues to mellow for a while after. no clue about storage. it will keep in the fridge for a very long time, although mine from last year got kind of thick

Yet another bump. About 2.5 months in. Definitely mellowed a lot.
