quote:

Is 1 cup each of bourbon, rum, and cognac per gallon of nog enough?

a) it’s three quarts.
B) 3 cups is essentially a fifth of booze

Just whipped up first batch and stuck to the recipe exactly. Yielded 96 oz with maybe 2 or 3 oz left over which I sampled.

Can't wait to try it the week of Christmas.

Bump for this thread. I've had a jar in my fridge for about a year and a half. Hopefully I don't die from drinking this. I'm assuming it'll be ok.

We made some before thanksgiving last year and I remember it being a bit harsh at Xmas... The missus reminded me last night we had a couple of growlers from last year... Pulled it out last nigh and what a difference... so smooth! It did take some convincing for some friends that were over to partake... My "oh yeah, that batch we made last year" initially drew some WTF stares!

Merry Christmas you bunch of reprobates.
This shite is fine ( made 1/1/22)! Eggnog in a nice copper cup in front of a blazing fire is very nice.

Made mine 12/3/22. Hope it’s not too harsh. Going in on it tonight.

Bump

Finally getting on the train this year. Probably will put it all together next weekend. I've been saving a few liquor bottles all year for this

I had a reminder go off on my phone a week ago telling me to make a batch and I forgot all about it. Thank for the 2nd reminder

Seems like every year right around Halloween I finally remember to mix some up but I always wanted to try making it sooner. I will this weekend.

I'll also be making 2 batches. 1 original recipe and the other subbing out the sugar for honey. On my reminder, I put on there to sub it with 1 1/2 cups of honey. No clue where I got that from but I'll give it a shot.
