Shitty opinion from an even shittier poster. What a shocker. Abita thrives on mediocrity and they choose to do so. Period. There's no excuse.

I like the Restoration, SOS, and Turbodog.

The fruit beers all suck IMHO, and pecan is just terrible.

Abita gets a lot of hate on this board. I love Abita Amber. It's my go to draft beer at a bar. What should I be ordering instead? What am I missing?

Please don't name some bullshite that can't be found anywhere.

Please stop saying we hate it!! Read the damn thread.

In 75% of the bars in La, I would probably join you in ordering Abita amber on draft as it will probably be one of the better beers on tap.

If you are just focusing on this area, try out some of the Parish and NOLA brews if you can.

I think it's more frustration than hatred.

yes...is it that hard to understand? I'm not going to rehash all the points that have been made in this thread about Abita.

This. Frustrated that we have a craft brewery in our own back yard that has the capital and resources to make really kick arse beer, yet they refuse and just continue to make mediocre renditions of boring styles of beer. Thus the

Ok, let me put it in a way that some of you may understand a little better. Lets pretend LSU gets top 5 recruiting classes every year in football, yet that manage to go 9-3 every year. For the passionate fan who is into LSU football, this is going to be disappointing. The potential is there, but they under achieve. To the average casual fan, they might not care that much and will be happy to have a winning record and making trips to bowl games.

Abita has the potential to be so much better, but is content with being average.

After reading this thread you can't see why people who are "beer snobs" would be frustrated? There could be a pretty badass brewery over there, but they just choose to make the same old shite. Granted, I do like some of the beer and still buy them because they aren't bad and are local. Look at St Arnold's for example. They make some pretty easy drinking beers that a good number of beer drinkers would like, but then they go beyond that and make higher quality beers regularly. Abita could do this, but they don't. Not many people here hate Abita and probably still buy it sometimes, but they are just frustrated because they could be so much better.

By the way, people actually drink that satsuma harvest? Man that shite is terrible. I've also seen some people on here hate the pecan one. I don't mind it.

I can and do drink every beer abita makes except for this one. I do in fact "hate" this beer.

Satsuma is a good brew. I really enjoy it and no one ever talks about it. That's why it's underrated in my opinion.

The reason no one talks about Satsuma is no one has been able to swallow it and keep it down.

Better hurry up and buy whats left of that crap in stock because its so good its been discontinued.
