Nobody is asking Abita to be Cigar City or anything like that, but they could easily be on par with St. Arnold if they just tried.

Why does it seem like they have focused on fruity/sweeter flavored beers recently?

Abundance of products (strawberries, satsumas, pecans etc.)? Plus like our friend Lee has pointed out, some people will buy Abita anything..

I can't drink 12 Abita ambers.
But I can knock out 12 Abita lights... That's the point.

Abita Amber 4.5% ABV 128 calories
Abita Light 4.0% ABV 118 calories

So you're saying you could only knock out 11 Abita Ambers?

For all the people saying strawberry is overated. Who is rating it so high? I don't know of many beer drinkers that brag on stawberry.

I like a few of Abita's beers but like others have said in this thread, there are better local choices than Abita.

yep, I have a friend in PA who ships me Troegs Nugget Nectar and Hopback Amber in exchange for Abita Strawberry. I don't get it, but I don't complain about it.

Probably because it's different I guess.

It's a seasonal beer here so you can't get it year round here. That's probably why it flies off the shelves early in the season. I notice it doesn't sell nearly as well at the store after it has been out for a while. And the women love it here like the above poster said.

Wow! I do not understand all of the hate for the Strawberry. Do yall think the strawberry is bad or just over rated? I really enjoy an abita strawberry on a hot day. I also don't get the love for turbo dog, that shite is terrible!!! I toured the Abita brewery last year, so I have tried most of their beers.

Under rated: Satsuma Harvest
Golden

Over rated: Andygator
Purple Haze

My favorite Abita: Abita Amber

Least favorite Abita: SOS

You never said which one you thought was most under rated or over rated, you just said that all abita beer was over rated. How about you actually make a selection instead of criticizing the opinions of others.

Satsuma is a good brew. I really enjoy it and no one ever talks about it. That's why it's underrated in my opinion.

This is the best product they have made period. And I love Purple Haze and Amber and even the Lemon Wheat.
