Missing the brisket at the former Pink Pig in Lake Charles then Carlyss. Only brisket outside of Texas I would eat.

Check out Paul's Rib Shack in LC next time you're around.

I haven't had any of the Nola BBQ, but the best I've had in the state is:

Johnson's Boucaniere in Lafayette

Blanchard's in Lafayette is very good, and is comparable to Blue Oak, IMO.

The competition Que that Crawfish in Arabi makes might be off the charts, but the day to day stuff is not impressive. The ribs always come off chewy and have some sort of rewarmed freezer burnt taste.

Real Deal BBQ in Hammond is pretty good. Pork and chicken is great. Sausage is generic but fine. Brisket tastes amazing but he serves it chopped which I don't care for.

His sides are some of the best.

Saw someone mention Bluetick, I haven't had a chance to eat anything he's done but I follow him on Instagram as he follows a lot of the same people I do. Other guy I haven't gotten to try but I know a little about his style is Gonzo's Smokehouse in Nola. He doesn't have a storefront but does a lot of popups at breweries. Probably the closest to Texas style you'll find around here.

I thought he opened up a spot in Luling? Maybe not opened yet? If he is open then it should be one of OP's spots.

As others have said Johnson's Boucanerie and I'd have it on my list because it will have other offerings than the normal bbq spot.

He does have a physical location there but o don't think it's open yet for done in. I think he does a lot of his sales of packaged stuff there.

Big Jakes in St. Gabriel? Don't know, want to try it but can't figure out their hours of operation.

Their BBQ is my favorite in the area. It's not Lockhart, but it's what we have around Baton Rouge.
a
The hours are extremely simple to figure out. 11-2 M-F. That's it. They cook enough to feed the lunch crowd from the plants around St. Gabriel, then they're done and start getting ready for the next day.

If you show up on Thursday, get there at 10:45. If you show up a few minutes after they open, there will be line out the door. They serves the Hoss Cartwright pork chop on Thursdays. It's like a 2" think smoked pork chop and when they're gone, they're gone. Friggin' delicious.

I have no idea what their COVID hours are, though.

Oh, the guy that owns it with his wife (she's usually at the register) and is in there filling drinks during lunch (and does the cooking at night) isn't actually named Jake, but he is a big John Wayne fan. Also, you must love the blues, 70's, and 80's rock because he's going to be playing music videos on the TV and over the PA. Also, be prepared to smell like delicious barbecue smoke the rest of the day. The place is infused with the smell of their pits.

ETA: I think they're closed during all of this according to their Facebook page.

FIFY.

I've ate at just about all of them in SE La and CCBBQ tops my list. I really like Blue Oak for their wings and brussels but everything else just seemed ok.

Big Mike's is pretty decent but their Que isn't even close to CCBBQ. Last time in there I was interested in the brisket sandwich. I asked the guy if the brisket on the sandwich was from the point or flat and he said he didn't know what that meant...

My brisket at La23 BBQ was similar to ole boy's pic above, though not THAT bad.

Only place I haven't tried in/around Nola is Frey's. In BR, I've only had TJRibs and even then, I always got wings (which are killer, btw). Never had their ribs. Cooyon's in Port Allen is a solid choice for that area too. I guess that would fall under BR BBQ.
