Went here once. Best thing they had were the pork rinds

Brisket was dry and unimpressive. Sides were meh

Blue Oak gets my vote here

I was trying to make a top 5, that was the best I had for 5.

If Pimanyolis is still open it might be worth a shot. Havent been there in about 10 years though.

Yeah it’s tough I know. With LA being known for its food culture our bbq is severely lacking

I remember growing up thinking Podnuh’s was the end all be all. Then I moved to Texas........

Everywhere has their style. I'm sure the 5th best jambalaya or etouffee in Houston/Dallas/Austin would be shite.

Blanchard's in Lafayette has consistently perfect brisket and ribs if you like Texas style heavy smoke; better than blue oak or central city.

I love reading one off posts like this as some sort of critique. Dumbest shite ever. Of all the places mentioned in this thread, Blue Oak likely does the highest volume. If you were in any way correct, 18 people would have corroborated this. But here you are, alone, with this stupid claim.

Fwiw, I’m probably taking CCBBQ (when it’s on) over BO in regards to quality of smoked meats, but BO in regards to overall quality of the wider menu. And the difference in meats ain’t that great.

I think you're giving #'s 1-4 too much credit.

I can't believe no one has mentioned Grayson's BBQ in Clarence. Easily my favorite.

This is pretty much the answer. Louisiana has great food that has developed over time by the people who settled in the area. BBQ is just not a part of the culture in Louisiana. I still cannot find a poboy in Houston that rivals the 10th best in Baton Rouge (I don’t know what the 10th would be, but it’s better than anything in Houston)

The culture in Texas is built around bbq and it shows. Now that being said, the bbq renaissance taking place in Houston is very new with most of the new places opening in the last 5-10 yrs. Prior to that you had to go into the hill country for the best bbq in Texas.

Blanchard's in Lafayette

they've got the food down pat (except for the awful sauces), but I hope they've learned how to implement the business side. they didn't have a clue when I last went

ordered big to-go order for a function one time and they told me be there at X time. I show up at X time, line is out the door. I walk to the front and ask them where the to-go orders are picked up, girl tells me I have to wait in line. I thought it was a joke and giggled a bit, then realized she was dead serious. i had to wait behind 15 frickin people to tell them I'm here to pick up my order. I pay and they tell me "ok we just have to slice everything." waited another 5 minutes for them to hand me my shite

wtf is the point of taking to-go orders if that's how you handle them lol. said I'd go back in a few months and that hopefully they'd have gotten their shite together

id put point blue bbq brisket up against anyones. Very few probably pass in the point blue area, but it is legit awesome. Their other bbq is just alright, but old boy knows how to do brisket.
