It was straight party-line identity politics contradicted by all evidence. Hume tried to save him saying that Trump lost white male votes (compared to 2020) and then Rove got pissed off and called him out.
Rove was 100% correct and the numbers supported him. At that point Williams tripled-down and the melt began.
