Mont Tremblant is a bit over an hour away and would be a good day trip. Lakes, hiking, cycling etc. It's beautiful in the summer.

Au Pied de Cochon
Joe Beef

Went in November and I went to these two... Joe Beef was the best meal Ive ever had... Au Pied was an experience, but it was a little too much for me... glad I went though...

Our friend that lives there said we had to try Leméac, that it was the best French Bistro at the moment... However I cancelled our reservation after the first two nights cause I needed a break...

Another friend recommended L'Express, but we opted to try the other three...

Mile End hood is fantastic. Was there last summer and really loved that city.

summer is still a little warm .... you don't really get too much relief. The Montreal Jazz Fest can be a good time as well.

Go up to the top of Mont Royal - great views.

All the terraces are open in the summer, so just find a good one, grab a beer and pass the time. Preferably at a place with good poutine.

Mont Royal is great, there’s a bus route that takes you up to the trailhead/lookout. I would’ve alotted more time there in retrospect as we didn’t have much time to walk the trails.

Montreal Botanical Gardens nearby the Olympic Stadium complex are pretty awesome and a short walk from the metro, not sure what it would be like to visit in the summer.

The metro system is awesome, we took the bus route from the airport and crossed over to the underground metro at a later station. Underground + bus system makes everything super walkable.

Brasserie Dieu du Ciel! is the most heralded brewery in the city if you’re into that sort of thing, kind of a cafe-style taproom with some outdoor seating. Highly recommend it.

One of the best recommended food spots was a little Portuguese chicken shop called Ma Poule Mouillée, the poutine we got there was delicious (especially after spending all day traveling in the rain). Apparently they just reopened after a fire.

In general, most of the places we went to eat at without reservations had a long wait that stretched outside the restaurant, including La Poule. La Banquise is right across the street and is well regarded for their poutine, and we saw that the line was probably twice as long. Probably the worst for this was at Schwartz’s Deli, which I could’ve done without.

I actually wasn’t blown away by Joe Beef, but maybe a factor was that I found it hot as hell in there for some reason. Enough people love it that I’d be willing to give it another go on a future visit.

A place we really liked was a tapas place called Tapeo that I think was recommended by our Air BnB host. Would definitely make reservations there again.

Look into the comedy festival. Might be in July. Surprisingly had a fun time at a CFL game as well.

There are some crazy ladies with questionable morals in Montreal, and I'm putting it lightly...

It's a pretty wild city.

Went for a 4 day bachelor party. Can confirm Roger's statement.

a little Portuguese chicken shop called Ma Poule Mouillée,

Can also confirm this place is damn good at a reasonable price. Have a food plan, OP. The sheer volume of restaurants can be overwhelming.

Kind of a parallel relationship (for me) with say visiting a NOLA & a Charleston, SC.

Variations on a same theme.

I prefer Quebec as it’s so small & compact and the folks who live and work there are a bit more focused on tourism & hospitality.

Both are worth visiting. Arguably much more to do & see in Montreal.

We were just there last summer. We did a walking tour of old town that included a tour of Notre Dame. We stayed at the Love Hotel in the financial district. It was a small boutique hotel owned by the founder of Guess Jeans.
We just relaxed ate a lot of Poutine and drank a lot of wine. Two restaurants we really liked were Restaurant Bonaparte and the LaQueue de Cheval Steakhouse. We did a multiple course tasting menu at Bonaparte that everyone really liked.

Don't leave your SO anywhere alone, the men in Montreal are total pigs and they don't give a frick whether or not a woman is "taken". And they have no concern about what Americans would consider "sexual harrassment". You'll witness it, I assure you. Hopefully you don't have to buck up on anybody.

And like Toronto, when you are paying by card, they bring the card machine to you and make you run your own transaction. Awkward at first for an American, but expect it.

Another thing, they all speak great English until you have a complaint about something, suddenly they don't understand, English not so good.
