Don't leave your SO anywhere alone, the men in Montreal are total pigs and they don't give a frick whether or not a woman is "taken".

Funny how everyone on TD assumes that posters are men. Not so.

Everywhere else on earth, the CC machine comes to you, as CCs require a PIN for transactions. Only in the backwards US do we still do signatures on a slip of paper.

I speak French, so no worries about the language whether giving compliments or making complaints.

There are some crazy ladies with questionable morals in Montreal, and I'm putting it lightly...

I'm married, have been there twice on business solo, and every female bartender definitely had this air about them, like at any moment I could have just taken one out back for a few minutes. Very beautiful women with lusty gazes. I'm to faithful to have a go at them.

I never once entered a PIN in Canada and logged over 100 transactions with both Visa and American Express over the last 24 months.

Ok, then expect yourself to be sexually harassed.

Because you've got a US card, which isn't PIN based. The PIN based chip cards require restaurant vendors to have a portable handheld so that users with PIN cards can enter the number tableside. In the case of your US card, the same unit will print the slip for your signature.

Fortunately, the boards I frequent are full of grownups who aren't inappropriate or gross.

I'm not being inappropriate or gross. I'm warning you about how men act in Montreal. I'm saying you may very well be literally sexually harassed.

Sorry to have offended you. I'm heading over to Home and Garden to make fun of your Freedom Lawn. See ya over there.

Shouldn't you be making fun of the guy trying to find a used bidet? LOL.

Went in November

Looking at a late November trip to Montreal. How is the weather? I don’t mind a little snow or cold, I just don’t want to trudge through five feet of the stuff.

Also, some good suggestions in this thread. Any others would be appreciated. TIA

Mechant Boeuf

Rent bikes and ride around old Montreal, looks like a much cleaner (and safer) version of NOLA.

I don’t think they get a ton of their snow in November. I went in early November, and it was barely above freezing, raining, and windy, so I’d actually recommend going about that time or during the summer.

Would second Bouillion Bilk for anyone looking for a nice restaurant. Liverpool House was good too, and I was able to get a Friday night reservation the week of (Joe Beef was booked solid).

We went the week of Thanksgiving and I was assuming it would be similar to Chicago (where we're from)... It was like Chicago in February!

That said, all the locals said it was very unusual for that time... We didn't mind... It was an incredible city to visit and I'd love to go back soon!
