Is Florida really going to fire Mullen this year?

Seems to be a foregone conclusion, but he did have them in the SECCG last year.
The most damning thing against him is his recruiting. The talent gap will only get wider. But, seems like it's a quick hook, even for Florida.
Any Gator fans on here have a feel for this?

They should. He’s terrible. JV coach.

He's really good friends with the AD. He probably gets a chance to revamp with new coordinators, although he might jump to the NFL. I seriously doubt he'll be fired.

seeing this is an LSU board and many LSU fans wanted to fire O after a 15-0 season I could make a better case to fire Mullen who has never won a NC

UF may see that they have no choice. Too many openings, and too many optimal candidates. Get your guy, and get him now, especially since Mullen has indicated his propensity for mediocrity is unlikely to change next year.

I can attest to one thing here in central Florida. UF fans can’t stand him.

Florida has the expectation they should be competing for National Championships. While Mullen hasn't been "bad". Particularly relative to the other losers who came before him, he hasn't had a ton of success against the top teams in the league.
He's:
1-3 vs. Georgia
1-3 vs. LSU (led by Ed Orgeron)
0-2 vs. Alabama (albeit in two competitive games)
This year they have:
Lost to an LSU team that fired a its HC the week BEFORE the game
Lost to Kentucky
Looked completely overmatched vs. Georgia.
If your aspirations are to compete for championships it doesn't look like they are on the right track.
Still, I think he gets another year (with mandates to change his defensive staff) if, for nothing else, they don't want to be in the market competing against LSU, USC, and perhaps other noteworthy schools for a HC. Particularly after he just got a raise (3rd highest paid HC in SEC) and 3 year extension after last season.
Like O this season, he'll get a "mulligan" and the opportunity to fix things next year. If it still doesn't look like they are any closer to being one of the major championship contenders in the SEC then he is likely gone.

He’s got a few games left that are fireable if he loses them.
If they do it will be a wild coaching carousel.

I can't figure out Florida under Mullen. They made NY6 bowls in his first 3 seasons, but haven't really looked like a serious CFP contender.
Three of their four losses this season were there for the taking, but they collapsed at the finish line. They were even hanging with UGA until they imploded in the final 2 minutes of the 1st half.
I don't know if they're close to being a really good team, or if Mullen is holding them back from being a really good team.

This year or next... He will be gone soon. Zero outcoached him 3xs in a row. That is an SEC record. Outside of Arkansas, UF has been LSU's most consistent win the last 3 years.

Honestly Florida has been the poster boy for this mindset. They have had a quick hook when things start to go south instead of waiting for the wheels to totally come off like LSU tends to, and i have always admired that one trait about them.

Florida has zero excuses not to win out with these remaining games:
@ So. Carolina
Samford
@Mizzou
Florida State
If they lose just one, that's 7-5. It could get dicey in Gainesville quickly for Merlins.

I think he gets a chance to have AR15 for his sophomore season.
