The amount of gear oil needed and the frequency with which it needs replacing is substantial.

Wait until they begin to leak at the seals after rotating during a freeze and their are oil sheens all over the coastline....

Bullshite. Those coastal liberals will never allow those giant eyesores in their backyards.

It won’t produce cheap electricity, but it might be good fishing.

In ten years, those will be nothing more than sunken habitat for fishermen to gravitate towards.

The exponential growth of offshore wind farms in the North Sea has been a testament to the combined efforts of European countries’ investing time, effort, and money in the decarbonization of their electricity grids. But just as Europe needs energy the most, the wind in the North Sea has stopped blowing, forcing regional energy markets to scramble for gas reserves to heat homes and power businesses. This has had expensive consequences.

lmao the shortage of energy in europe is due to wind... or no wind shall I say.

This.

Let those dumbasses in the Northeast put all their eggs into the wind basket. I'll be more than content to sit back and watch the whining about not having power the next time a "Superstorm Sandy" hits them and spreads chunks of those turbines up and down the eastern seaboard.

And then there's this...

In other words, the only plan that could be possibly worse would be to create giant solar farms out in the ocean.

Don't tell the President that though, he might try it.

The turbines have over speed trips over like 50 mph winds

Why waste money by placing them 12 nautical miles away. Why oh why would that waste be needed? Why not place them on the coast? They wouldn’t have to be anchored so deeply. Hey. Let’s put them 12 Nautical Miles out all the way to the coast. Just have them generate of the state’s electricity and prove us mouth breathers wrong?

Surely rich liberals are not jumping in the NIMBY group are they?? Nahhhh. Surely not.

wind farms on the ocean are stupid. wave farms make more sense, especially the kind that use the waves to pump saltwater onshore to run turbines, cause you can combine that with desalination using the electricity that generated onsite

I'm not against it if it makes sense.

It doesn't make financial sense as a standalone investment which is why you're seeing government funding create the winners and losers in this space.

The costs to install and maintain those offshore wind farms is astronomical compared to the energy they produce.

This level of power could be produced easily with Nuclear at a much lower cost and environmental impact.

On the upside there will be a few $50-75 million dollar service vessels built to service this stupidity. With all the requirements even the big osv’s are t the best choices

There is no way Entergy’s grid could survive that.

Anyone remember the game Command and Conquer?

So helping the already wealthy first, not the underfunded communities. So liberal of them.

Well I was involved in a wind farm plan many years ago for the GOM snd it folded because it was determined that there just wasn’t enough wind to make it worth while. The deal went up the Atlantic coast and it’s doing well.

I wonder what had changed in the GOM?
