My guess is they're gun shy after what happened earlier this year before Delta spread. We all kind of let our guard down, and then we saw the worst numbers of the whole pandemic over the summer.
just like they were gun shy about announcing every new variant that's discovered with no proof it will move the needle at all in regards to transmission, hospitalizations, etc?
Oh right, that didn't happen at all.

If the flu returns, COVID (the pandemic) is over. It will still be here circulating, but not at epidemic or pandemic levels.

Are you still masked up ?
Posted on 10/12/21 at 11:02 am to Y.A. Tittle
Because the companies and the govt assholes they control are saying it's going away. Our vaccine cut off date is in November. That same day we quit testing, quarantining, and masking. No testing means no one has it, means it's over.

It’ll never be “over” just like the flu
But yes it’s largely unharmful unless your metabolic system and cardiopulmonary systems are shite

in terms of spread, yes. In terms of hospitalizations and fatalities? But by all means, continue the fear mongering and blaming the unvaccinated. #Unity

idk about data, but the NBA/airlines don't think it's over with their crazy mandates. I think Los Angeles just issued their proof of vax requirements too

In the US, the 7-day rolling average for COVID related deaths is right where it was at the first week of March. It continued that downward cycle through early July and really didn't start increasing again until early August. So, as the rates are right now, if they follow the last wave, they will continue to decrease and should bottom out to near nothing by early November.

I actually see it the other way around. I think it's a 0% chance there is 24/7 coverage about it (regardless of a surge) because they want to be able to tell us how they saved us. When the GOP was in charge, everyone was dying and being rejected from hospitals. But, because of their measures, we are now safe and can live our lives as we see fit...within their rules.
I wouldnt doubt that spin under different circumstances...however, the percentage of people who completely distrust the media and its political narratives has risen a great deal in the last couple of years. And it was already rising before that.
I think they know they need mail in voting and large scale fraud to win.

Rapides Regional stopped posting their covid #s as of October 7. There were only 9 patients at that time which was pretty low compared to the rest of the Summer/early Fall.

Covid is a member of our community of diseases, so it will likely never be really over.
However, I read your question as asking is there any data that suggests that the disease is making a new push. The only correct answer right now is no, the disease is not advancing, and it continues to decline. Infections per capital right now are lower than any time since this began and the rate of transmission remains below 1.0, meaning that the disease distribution is shrinking.
At this point, there is no continuing justification for any restrictions. That being said, if the percentage of vaccinated people continues to increase, we can actually make this over.

Thanks for your response. This was my intended query, yes.
Is there anything you can point to as evidence that any sort of increased vaccination percentages (above where we are currently) would change anything with regard to the current trajectory? It's hard to see how it could be anything more than negligible at this point, but maybe there's something else out there.

it's virus. it's always gonna be around. whether or not we keep giving them excuses to control our lives is another matter.

No. I'm not aware of anything that would show that a higher vaccination rate would directly translate into a lower disease presence at this point in time.

My dad just passed away from Covid so I'd say it's not over.
