SNL has become nothing but a circle jerk of Ivy League writers and NBC Manhattan types.
If you think that Ivy League writers are something new, you haven’t been following for long. It goes back to the first season with Al Franken. The entire comedy concept (and cast) that SNL stole from National Lampoon is an offshoot of the Harvard Lampoon. Then you get Conan, Jim Downey… long before today’s writers.
As for the poster saying that the cast is made up of rich kids, that isn’t true. You have the Josts, but you also have Michael Che, Pete Davidson… Kate McKinnon went to public school. You know Keenan worked his way up. A couple of rich kids doesn’t mean the cast bought their way in.

I watch SNL on a regular basis and thought it was pretty blah.
Same. I realize that you have to watch some meh to see one or two good skits a week, but I found nothing better than meh in this episode. The writers are failing, and Update needs a makeover. Che and Jost have run their course.

Pete Davidson wore a Norm T-shirt during his Weekend Update bit, then they closed WU with Jost throwing the desk to some best-of Norm Update clips, including his best OJ joke.
Thanks, found that on the tubes. Nice little tribute.
Caught part of the Cars skit while flipping commercials during a timeout. That one at least had a couple laughs.

Yeah, this is what most people don’t understand: most of the SNL actors and writers these days are the children of loaded people that bribed their kids way into Ivy League. Like when Aidy Bryant (a stupid spoiled whore) portrayed Meghan McCain and Meghan said she graduated with her in her high school, doesn’t that set off some flags?
Your hatred for Aidy Bryant is weird. Seems like pretty low hanging fruit since I can't think of anything memorable that she has done. Your dislike of her seems to not be in proportion to her actual relevance. Thanks to you bitching about her I looked her up, I can't tell that her family is even rich, other than a private highschool connection to Megan McCain and she isn't an ivy league kid.

My disgust for Aidy Bryant isn’t really related to SNL, it’s her other show she stars and writes called Shrill. The show is simply put vile to the largest degree. The show is not self aware enough to know it is. She is the hero and better than everyone, despite the fact in the first season alone she gets three abortions as her primary means of birth control. She writes the fricking show and is the head producer, so she does not get a break for simply starring in it.
The only show I can think of that is debatably worse is 13 Reasons Why, and that’s the only show/book/movie that I want destroyed since it directly led to dozens of kids killing themselves and hundreds of suicide attempts. It’s not as bad as that, but I can’t think of a show with a meaner and holier than thou tone and be completely oblivious that she’s the actual villain.
Like here’s a scene from the show on cultural appropriation. She thought when writing this bit that the woman who was nice asking about dreadlocks was the villain and the people kicking her out of the shop are the heroes: “It’s nothing personal, it’s just that we just hate you here.”

Cars skit was ok, WU had a couple good jokes. Pete Davdison roasting himself was good and so was the Norm tribute.
Other than that it was pretty much awful.

I didn’t realize he was in it (but should have assumed)

I tuned out for good when Alec Baldwin as Trump seemed to be the focus of every episode.

I dislike Aidy Bryant because of her dancing in the new Old Navy advertisement.

I think she'll cling onto SNL until Lorne hits her fingers with a hammer. She has no film career and her TV work is pretty marginal.

Yeah, if they didn't include at least one OJ joke, it would have been a total failure.

They started with new cast member James Austin Johnson's almost flawless Joe Biden.
Really? I thought it was terrible and I don't know why he gave Joe a George W sounding accent. The writing sounds like somebody reading their jokes off a napkin at open mic night while the audience murmurs

He's been on TV for a long time, I remember his days on Nickelodeon with Keenan & Kel and All That.

What surprised me is that he basically filled one of the jobs that opened up when Chris Kattan left. Kattan started in '96.
