Fairly well written episode.

They started with new cast member James Austin Johnson's almost flawless Joe Biden. Which, going by Twitter, threw a lot of people for a loop as they tried to figure out what movie star they'd brought in for the role. He also did a great Larry the Cable Guy and was solid as an unnamed sportscaster on the FOX NFL skit. His fame is for his perfect Trump impression, which I'm guessing they're holding in reserve until Trump is in the news again.

Pete Davidson wore a Norm T-shirt during his Weekend Update bit, then they closed WU with Jost throwing the desk to some best-of Norm Update clips, including his best OJ joke.

One real oddity: They started a skit late because Lorne was wandering around in front of the cameras. You could see him walking out of the shot as the talent said, "Are we starting now?" Lorne's getting old.

Only one cast member left the show (Beck Bennett). I read an article that theorized that the cast members were no longer leaving for the first movie deal that comes along. With little in the way of comedic movies in theaters, it's safer to stay on SNL and do some streaming projects on the side.

For those playing SNL Bingo in here, the following are free spaces:
• "I thought this show went off the air ten years ago"
• "SNL hasn't been funny since I was in high school"
• "Leslie Jones"

Seeing your post is the only way I even knew it was back on, that goes to show you just how relevant SNL actually is today. Yeesh

I didn’t realize he was in it (but should have assumed)

That the Dems are too splintered with in-fighting to get anything done.

The cold open was pretty blah. The new guys Biden impression was great but the actual sketch was just unfunny. I couldn’t even finish that sketch. Was the rest of the show better?

Yeah they ripped Sinema and Manchin pretty hard and only barely dug at AOC and Omar. I don’t think they dug at Omar at all.

SNL is simply Woke Church these days. It’s a shallow shell of itself and unless the state sponsors it, I doubt it will be around in 10 years.

They said this in the 70s, 80s, 90s, etc. It isn’t going anywhere.

The problem is SNL had moments of being funny then. SNL has been a dumpster fire for well over half a decade. No one there is funny anymore. Want to see funny, go back and watch when Norm was on. If it survives, Lorne will need to be fired, bring on a producer with balls, and fire all the writers and 3/4 of the cast. It’s what Lorne did to save the show last time.

SNL has become nothing but a circle jerk of Ivy League writers and NBC Manhattan types.

Yeah, this is what most people don’t understand: most of the SNL actors and writers these days are the children of loaded people that bribed their kids way into Ivy League. Like when Aidy Bryant (a stupid spoiled whore) portrayed Meghan McCain and Meghan said she graduated with her in her high school, doesn’t that set off some flags?

I watch SNL on a regular basis and thought it was pretty blah. The Biden skit wasn't good and then they open the show with the talk show bit.

Figured they'd have something for Norm so it was nice to see a few of his jokes.

Didn't see any mention of Kasey Musgrave's first performance. Took me a minute or so to realize she only had on cowboy boots. After looking it up, apparently she was just pulling a Jenny from Forrest Gump. Maybe the guys in the band got a good look.

Didn’t know he was on the show, that’s awesome. His Trump impression is uncanny.

Weird Al was not very nice to Mr. Coolio

Comedy used to be the only real refuge where really poor or regular middle class people from nowhere could make it from nothing without having loaded parents. But not anymore since all the "comedy" now comes from unfunny ivy league dipshits who just repeat what Pravda tells them.

It took me a long time to realize that most of Hollywood are just rich kids who were bankrolled until they made it (mostly because of connections from family members and friends).

I know the parents and family of a very prominent child actor and they did everything to get the kid into show business because the kid's father is a surgeon and the mother didn't work or do anything other than go to auditions and sets with her kid. And typically the most vocal entertainment figures on politics are from most well-off families.

What do think Norm would’ve done if his years at the news desk had been during the Trump presidency? Easy on Trump? Think he went after Clinton because of his politics?
