re: A reasonable and rational discussion of TJ Finley

The issue with attacking the middle of the field with Finley is he only knows one speed on his passes-very hard. That bodes well for a lot of passes overthrown and bouncing off receivers. I would expect at least 2 interceptions with Finley.

I agree he throws the ball very hard across the middle and it will result in interceptions but if they are killing us with the rush it won’t matter. They will not come out slinging the ball though so I wouldn’t expect any first half fire works like we saw against MSU.
Also, their LBs are some killers and Auburn blitzes a lot. This will be the best defense we have faced so I’m anticipating a lot of 3 & outs. Our lack of run game really is going to hurt our defense this game.

This is easy. Blitz tf out of him.
Lots of stunts. Blow his mind
I recall only one blitz this year. The defense has been holding back a lot or they don't practice blitz packages that much.

One factor in this weekend's game is the role of TJ Finley.
Finley is going to be under unusual pressure when he plays against his former team. One advantage would be he knows most of the LSU players. But, he also has the immense pressure of trying to prove to the world that he should have been the starting quarterback.
I think he'll yield to the latter and have a rough game.
If he has time, he can push the ball down the field and hurt LSU. Without Stingley, LSU is a little bit vulnerable there.
Finley needs to not hold the ball too long. If he does that, I think he's going to be productive.

Now I've got no beef with Finley and hope he does well (except for Saturday night).
But it will be very entertaining to watch all the drama unfold.

TJ struggles with touch and finesse on some throws. We didn't need that last play if he could lay up a floater?

he knows Bo's defense.....bait and switch...O playing 4D chess

The X factor is he is fricking terrible and couldn’t beat out Nuss with a year jump. Kid is a fricking soft arse statute.

I think Auburn would be smart to start Nix, but to already tell both QBs that Finley will get the 3rd and 4th series and they'll go with the best player after that. It lets Finley ease into the game and emotions rather than risk him trying to win the game from his first throw.

He looked good last week

He may not have to read. Just look to his right and left one side will be open 15 to 20 yards

How TJ being the ultimate mole? I mean think about it, he was the backup on this team like 6 weeks ago, right? How much do you think the coaches and other players have gleaned from his inside knowledge of how our offense really works? How about signals, signs and player tendencies? They have some extra insight other teams do not have the luxury of utilizing, for what it’s worth.

I think Nix will start- but regarding Finley I think the advantage is still having Ensminger on staff as an analyst. He directly coached TJ. Finley’s knowledge of LSUs schemes left when Pelini was bounced and they brought in Jones / Peetz.

Reasonable and rational discussions don’t occur here. You should know this.

I think he looked a lot likes bigger version Brandon Harris last year. But I thought he would develop into much better. He had a strong arm, but under pressure threw every ball way too hard. And if you aren’t accurate, that turns into incomplete passes/interceptions.

Has AU even announced a starter?

Reality is, he DIDN'T look good last week. The refs bailed him out on that terrible throw and he would have been sacked on that 4th down play if he was playing against a better defense.
Georgia State…….
He might have looked better than Bo Nix, but he didn’t look good. At least not in the game I was watching.

Not sure it was heroics. He played from the end of the 3rd through the rest of the game. They scored once in that time on 4th and 9. It’s not like he had one drive.

Max was more mentally game ready than TJ last year. He just had the mental game down very early on. Sometimes it takes guys a little longer. Sometimes they never figure it out
Max also had the benefit of starting later in the season.
If he was so far ahead why didn't he start over Finley when Brennan got injured?

Because our coach is a caveman and Finley has a rocket arm.
