A reasonable and rational discussion of TJ Finley

One factor in this weekend's game is the role of TJ Finley.
Finley is going to be under unusual pressure when he plays against his former team. One advantage would be he knows most of the LSU players. But, he also has the immense pressure of trying to prove to the world that he should have been the starting quarterback.
I think he'll yield to the latter and have a rough game.

An the LSU players know him - no advantage.

Whenever you make a post, reasonable and rational are never two words to describe it.

He’s got talent but I thought he always struggled with reading defenses. Hopefully we take advantage of that

Some of those heroics he pulled off- while amazing -were because of his athletic superiority over that team. Different athletes in LSU.

Capable of making random good to great plays…. But IMO not able to make enough to sustain any kind of long term success. But he def could make enough to beat us Saturday night if given the chance.

He looked good last week, but that wasn't LSU !!! I think the Tigers win ,we have greatly improved from the UCLA game.

TJ wanted to be a Tiger and gave it his best shot. Unfortunately, it just wasn't in the cards. There was just too much competition with Max, Miles, Nussmeyer, and Walker coming in. He made the wise move to get himself on the field...but the thing to remember, is that he wanted to be a Tiger first...Best of Luck to the young man...just not this Saturday...

Statue in the pocket. Goes down like a middle school wimp despite being 4 inches taller and 60 pounds bigger than everyone

The last play of the AU game Saturday disagrees with you.

His performance against TX A&M says that a competent defense will give him fits. LSU should have and could have won that game with a competent offense

I expect Auburn to try to keep the scoring low, burn clock, run the ball a lot, use short passes to protect Finley.

But not in the current defensive schemes.

Max was more mentally game ready than TJ last year. He just had the mental game down very early on. Sometimes it takes guys a little longer. Sometimes they never figure it out.
But TJs ceiling has always been higher. That’s why he started first last year. I don’t give a shite what the fans think. That’s the reality. We’ll find out how far his mental game has progressed.

2 INTs if he starts. The guy loves to force it in there and throw it as hard as he can.
I imagine Finley gets the start, they go down 3TDs and Nix leads a comeback but comes up just short late in the 4th.

This is kind of like saying "I'm not racist but". What follows always seems to contradict the preface. Any rational discussion of TJ Finley needs to start with "Will he start or even play vs LSU?"

dumb fricking takes are one reason you're consistently regarded as one of the worst posters on this site.

Finely is a good pocket passer and can throw very well on the run, he’s a rhythm player. If Auburn has success with the running game he will have a clean pocket. Auburn attacks the middle of the field (our weakness) in the passing game. The key for Auburn will be setting up the run early, keep LSU’s defense on the field for long grinding drives in the first half then carve them up in the second half. Our Defense has played poorly in the second half in the last 4 games. This could be bad if we don’t make an impact in the first half.
