That's the exact one my dad had. Bumper to bumper. Still have it and I want to restore it.
I’m jealous. I bought mine for $1100. Spent all my free time trying to keep it running. I hated that car at the time - didn’t appreciate it for what it was.

Supposed to be a two seater. That car could hold you and fifteen of your friends. ![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/Iconrotflmao.gif)

I want to get a cheap roadster just to have fun on windy roads.
Had this for a bit and really enjoyed driving it. Upgraded M5 wheels on mine, but you can get Z4's pretty cheap these days. Inline 6 running about 220hp, so not super fast, but fast enough to have some fun and it handled curves like buttah.

How cheap are they when you visit the mechanic?

Ha! Shockingly, I had very few issues with it. It was an '04 I bought in 2014 from a dude in OH. It had 30k miles on it when I bought it. Got rid of it at about 60k and I think I had to take it to the shop once for a cooling problem that was a pretty reasonable bill.
But I get your point, for sure. Good thing about those early Z4's is there wasn't a ton of fancy computer shite like you'd see in the later models or in the more luxury vehicles. Plus, they're so old, there are a ton of videos on YouTube and information in forums that most stuff can be handled at home.

Don't really care if it's more of a GT than a roadster. I have always loved this generation of Mercedes SL.
This one is a 1978 model:
I don't love the chrome wheels on that example, but everything else looks great.
If we are talking more modern cars.....I am partial to the Porsche 718

That's a kit car, but lots of work nonetheless.

I agree, but IMO they look much better with the hard top.

That's a coupe, not a Convertible with the hardtop.
This is...
