As far as I know the power comes down either LA 70 or LA 69. We've lost power simply because a tree feel on the lines along highway 70.

Amen. I don’t know what I can do to pay back Duke and others but they deserve something great.

Duke, I don’t think these threads would be what they are without you, rdc, and boat.

Even if you do start another site, be sure you stick around here. These Hurricane threads turn into rescue threads, into informational threads into people helping people threads.

TD does a lot more than I’m sure what it’s given credit for…..

For me, the preparation conversations happen between my wife after “well, what has Duke or rdc said?”, then our local meteorologists and we go from there. After seeing the initial models last week that Ida was coming into SWLA, my wife said that she thought someone had died before I told her what we could possibly be facing. But alot of you talked me down off the edge over the next couple days.

Thank you guys, genuinely. Wish there was something I could do to repay you guys.

Im not really thinking of a hurricane thread replacement. Its not like I could possibly replicate it somewhere else anyway.

Itd be more for the long form posts and synopsis of whats going on. One stop to "catch up" rather than dig through the thread here for example.

I agree. I have mostly followed TD’s stickied threads for updates. Last night when all communications went out, I really, really missed it for all the most reliable info.

I’ll tell you this…I’ve spent way more hours in this thread without posting than I care to admit. When our house was flooding in 2016, I was in the threads checking in and making decisions based on no nonsense data provided here.

These threads are the perfect mix of doomcasting and comic relief. I didn’t even watch any local coverage throughout this whole thing. Just this thread and a bit of Twitter. All of you that contributed here, I’ll support any future endeavors. That includes stickied threads or wherever we end up.

Cheers to you guys and thanks for the knowledge you all provide. I have some Tabasco ready next time you’re in town

We only had minimal wind damage 5 miles north of Covington. Bogue falaya was 2nd highest in 43 yrs here. Up to second front step. Was very fortunate. Couple of trees down. Hwy 25 and 36 had multiple tres across them.

Worth it for the time you put in for hurricane season.

I basically just follow yall for all my stuff besides one local guy as most have become social media whores.

Thanks for the heads up

BREAKING: 2 people dead, 10 others injured after a portion of Hwy 26 washes away in George County. In all, 7 cars fell into this gaping hole. It's heartbreaking. Initial reports suggest Ida's torrential rains caused the road to collapse.

I live in Goodbee - drove around a good bit inspecting my offices yesterday evening. It gets significantly worse as you go west toward Hammond. Very little work being done last night, some roads like Boston east of downtown Covington still have lines across the road and are one lane only. Even in Mandeville, Soult street 1088 corridor needs a ton of work. Lakeview appears to still be running on generator power last night although the service road going north appeared to have power south of I-12. There are lines blown down in Mississippi along I59. Appears the saturated ground was the biggest culprit

Naw, my house has shown on Entergy's map as having power the entire event. I can most assuredly tell you, we don't.
ETA: The neighborhood behind us (Waterford Lakes) got power back last night and I was like but here I sit this morning with no power and I'm like

I can legit say this thread helped inform my decision to leave. Before this was a storm and on any other news outlet the models were being posted on here with shocking agreement. Having kids and a near term pregnant wife leaves little margin for error but also a lot of work to leave and I started making calls Wednesday thanks to this thread and the early info on it.
