Double rainbow weather threads are probably much more fulfilling.

Thanks to all who provided good info for this storm!

My in-laws who stayed with us asked me several times “how the hell do you know that?” or “where the hell are you getting this info?”

A site where you could get the kind of info you, rds, Boat, and the other knowledgeable folks bring without 79 pages of the rest of the BS would be worth a subscription/Patreon/what-have-you.

I started a Facebook group about how they started letting them move the cone. It’s free so I don’t make any money on it but it’s something I’m very passionate about.

Itd be something like that. It appears theres some value to contextualizing center (SPC/NHC) forecasts. Also, just summarizing forecast stuff you'd normally have to dig through a thread for.

Since Id still want to post thoughts in these threads because in a disaster, Id be a shitty person to charge or ask for donations when people are in need.

Go look at Force 13 on YouTube. I'm not huge fan of theirs, but they have an interesting deal going. Hell, they live streamed like 30 something hours on Ida. I looked in on the last video they put up of that stream, and they just sit around doing the same shite we do here. It is an interesting concept.

One note I want to make in case this thread is archived. Most of you probably didn't follow Ida's 'birth' (except for Duke and a few others), but when Ida was merely a wave, run after run after run of the GFS had her plowing into Central and sometimes Southern Mexico. These runs were around a week's worth.

It was to the point that even pro meteorologists were buying it. Then the runs starting edging more north with the ridge receding, then we all know the outcome. Ridging has to be one of the most difficult aspects of weather system modeling, and they often get it wrong, especially many days out.

GFS says yes!

Don't know if it'll make it this far down though, but it's a hint that Fall is coming!

I don't set out my tomatoes until after Good Friday, if that is what you're asking.

Maybe, I havent looked all that close but theres a nice trough coming for the NE that could well funnel a little drier air into Louisiana.

Its also going to cause the turn out to sea (most likely) the hurricane that big wave coming off Africa is going to turn into.
