Some brain dead loser on the news just said “if you must get out and about tomorrow don’t forget to social distance and wear your mask. We’re still in a pandemic”.
That is incredible. If someone ever makes a clip of this I'd compensate said poster with the award of at least one upvote.

You can see another example of the KLIX radar beam getting blocked by that heavy band moving through Slidell right now. The western side of Ida quickly blips down on one frame after being there on the frame before. The storm is weakening but that’s not what the radar is showing. That’s the beam not being able to fight all the way through the storm and return.

Better fix that thing first thing. I noticed my septic pump is cutting on a bunch in this. I’m fixing that tomorrow.
Funny how these things point out the issues.
Making a list as we go, lol

Transmission lines going across property and ones tall enough to go across the largest river in the hemisphere are two different things.

… yea.
Its heading straight for them. shite.

"Why would it take that long to re-run those transmission lines?
Uhhhh"
The quote from the JP guy was vague. If it is just the lines down in the river then it won't take long to run new lines (they did that after Gustav in like 7-8 days and theoretically should be better prepared this time).
If the towers literally collapsed then it could be an extensive time. I don't know where those towers are, but unless they are in Lower Coastal parishes these wind speeds should not have exceeded their design parameters, unless there was a tornado or Entergy screwed up.
Their initial post-Laura estimate for constructing new towers (they did collapse) over the Sabine River was 2 months. They did it in 23 days with an extraordinary special team and helicopters and all kinds of stuff.
However, the Mississippi River would have to be a much larger technical/engineering feat due to the size and commercial needs. They always over-estimate, but that would be a big job.

This is my first major hurricane as a home owner. I’m fully expecting to have trees down in my house when I get back. But I got my wife and son out, and that’s all that matters. But I am stressed beyond anything I’ve experienced.

We’ll see in the morning, lots of damage in Thibodaux as well. Entire shopping center that is almost a quarter mile long had the roof peeled off in Thib
I saw video at the Wendy’s just before it started getting hairy and all their sign letters about strawberry smoothies were still in place. I was actually impressed.

Local and national weather folks sometimes have an agenda. Our good folks on this site don’t when it comes to these horrible events and it truly helps us.

It’s definitely zig zagged from Locksport to near LePlace and now is west of Killian.

Hi! I lived in the Brunswick area for almost a decade before coming back home. My work took me all over the coastal areas of the state.
I enjoyed living in your awesome state. Your state's strong cultural heritage reminded me a lot of the one we have here in Louisiana and earned my respect, even if y'all's crawfish are gigantic and y'all's shrimp are small and already pink before they're cooked. And even if y'all have forgotten how to pronounce names likes Benoit, Hebert, and Arceneau.
Stay warm this winter, friend. I do not miss the nor'easters and ice storms that knocked out power for days and weeks. It's always something, no matter where you live.
Edit: And to keep this on topic, I'm crashing with friends in Hattiesburg. We ain't seen shite here. About 5 minutes of heavy rain a couple of times during the day, that's been it. I have no idea what I'm going home to, but as Ms Scarlett said, "tomorrow is another day". Praying for everyone unable to evacuate.
