I’m only asking because my wife is a nurse and that’s where they are evacuating to with some of their residents

Uh, I'd go ahead and start planning on building a new fence.

I've been fricking saying this for a day and a half.

If shear comes in from the west at landfall, how much will that help the Lafayette side wind-wise?

The last bad storm I went through was Andrew. I was only 10 years old but I think it’s why I’m so terrified of storms. Plus a year before andrew a tornado hit and that bout made me scared of rain for years. I’m a grown woman now but I don’t ever want to live through another tornado or Andrew type hurricane again.

I am curious...for people who stay for the storm and then leave if power goes out the next day, is that usually a pretty successful endeavor? They usually clear the main roads pretty quickly of any debris, right?

Worked for me after Gustav. Just make sure the tank is full.

I road Zeta out in Metairie as well. They said Cat 2, but it made landfall as a low Cat 3. Not gonna lie, was pretty sketched out for about 3 hours during the middle of it.

Fences down all over the parish. Street lights out for weeks. Typical stuff, but man was it hot once it passed over us from 9-12 pm with no power.
