But I was told on this very board that this would never happen!!!

quote:

They aren't. There are already charging stations in Louisiana. Some installed by Tesla, some by 3rd parties.

They won't accept this reality since it doesn't agree with their beliefs

quote:

Because most people don't want to sit around waiting hours for their car to charge in the middle of a road trip

Who waits hours for their car to charge?

quote:

esus Christ this state pisses away money on dumb shite. EV charging stations,

This won't age well. Hell, it was there before you typed it

quote:

I said this a few weeks ago, invest in EV companies. Charge Point is a good company, keep an eye on Ford's stock because they are about to make EVs.

Yall might be against it, but its coming whether you like it or not. Might as well take advantage of it and invest in it.

And very few people here will heed this.

Can the Tesla supercharger be used on a non-tesla vehicle?

Almost $12 million of Louisiana’s share of the 2016 settlement was set aside to replace 351 diesel engine buses owned by 16 school boards. The new engines will reduce nitrogen oxide emissions and other pollutants such as sulphur dioxide, volatile organic compounds, and particulate matter.

Oddly, what the article doesn't mention is that many of these buses are being replaced by propane buses, not new diesel ones.

Clean burning natural gas and propane engines will do a lot more to make Louisiana green than dropping everything for electric.

eta: Found the official number on the DEQ site.

Approximately 156 of the 351 buses receiving funding are propane or CNG driven.

Why are federal and state funds being spent on this? Do we/did we use tax dollars to build gas stations?

A lot of public fleets use LNG in some of the western states. Surprised it isn't a bigger thing in Louisiana given that it's such a huge natural gas producer that also has air quality issues.

If this is such a good, lucrative idea, why is the government the only group pushing it?
How are you completely unaware of all the private investment in EVs?

LDNR, LDEQ, and DOTD basically got free money that was from the VW Mitigation Fund and had to spend it on things that would benefit air quality.

About the Louisiana Volkswagen Environmental Mitigation Trust

As part of a settlement, states are eligible to receive funds to pay all or part of the cost of projects to reduce emissions from diesel vehicles and to install electric vehicle charging stations.

You believe the government is on the cutting edge of innovation and this isn't about politics and graft? Ok.

Unfortunately, I agree with that assessment.

Why do you say unfortunately? I don't see a problem with EVs.

Hasn't the government had its hands in the oil business for a century? Is there any industry untouched by the government?

Who's paying for this? And is there a cost to charge? And if it's free, why do I have to pay for gas?

I mean....General Motors, Ford, and VW are going full EV by 2030.

The bulk of new car R&D is going into Electric Vehicles now at those companies.

Volkswagen in this case.

I mean, probably.

Why do you think charging is, or will be, free?
