Mowing economics: How many times a year do you think you mow your lawn per year?

So, I am debating on whether to bite the bullet and buy a riding mower or hire someone. It's a 0.67 acre lot and the quotes I've gotten have been $75-$90 per mow. We have hired 2 different companies, but both were very unreliable and the second did a piss-poor job, so we told them not to come back.
All that said, disregarding my time and effort and looking at it purely economically, I can buy the mower I'd like for $5000 or less. Assuming $80 per mow, the mower would be paid for in about 68 mows. This brings us to my question. I'm just curious how many times everyone thinks they mow per year.
I'm in Baton Rouge, for reference. I'm thinking from at least May 1 - October 1, I generally mow weekly. Assuming once every two weeks from March 1 to May 1 and October 1 to December 1, that's already 31 mows per year.

Ignoring, gas, oil, maintenance (battery, blade sharpening, spark plugs, winterizing, etc.)?
With your 2/3 acre, it will be the best money you ever spend. That eliminates picking up the yard, edging, all the grunt work and you can focus on appearance, plants (or have Mrs. GI do that).
Just find someone reliable. Ask for references. Check those references. Live happily ever after.
(ETA: As to your original question - basically 2 mows a month from March through October give or take 3 to 4, so about 16 to 18 times per year.)

You'll me mowing further into Oct than you think.
Also, in May and June you will likely need your yard mowed 2 times a week to 3 times every 2 weeks.

Bruh, either it’s worth it to hire the job out or it ain’t. If you have a kid, put his/her arse on the detail and make that a teachable moment.

The company I hired here around Birmingham charges me $140 a month to do my front yard. That includes mow, edge, weedeat, and spot treatment for weeds in the grass and beds. They come out every other week, and my front looks greater than it has in years. They generally do their first cut in March to knock down the dead grass from the winter, and end sometime in October. I was using a push mower, and by the time I did the front, back, and got around to edging or running the weedeater, it would take me several hours. This company also does 2 other houses right by mine. A truck pulls up with three guys in it. One mows, another edges, another does the weedeating and weed sprays, and they are here less than 2 hours and have all 3 yards done. Best money I spend every month. Gives me my saturdays back and I don't have to do anything to it.

I do. I’m not obsessed, but my grass grows like a mofo during the summer. If I tried to mow weekly it would look like a hayfield that was fluffed and never bailed. Besides, it’s faster to cut it while it’s not overgrown.

It won't ever be economical to pay someone else to mow it. Now whether it's worth your time or not is something only you can answer. I mow mine a lot (about the same size as you) and won't pay someone to do it for me, unless mine is broke down or I just simply can't do it. I don't mind cutting grass - pop in AirPods and enjoy some music, then a cold beer after.

So many variables. Do you even like to cut grass? Is the money to pay someone feasible for you? Do you have enough free time to do it?
Since getting a decent ZTR, I really enjoy cutting more than I did. I also work 1/2 day on Friday so usually get my cutting done before the weekend comes. I couldn’t see paying someone to do it for me. Everyone’s situation is different.

That's the whole point. At what price point is it not worth it?
If I'm having to spend an hour a week trying to figure out if and when these guys are going to show up, that has to be figured into the costs. If there is only one decent dry day to mow grass one week in June, you better hope they show up. I know I can't be the only person to deal with the hassle or waiting for the lawn crew all week only to have to mow an overgrown lawn on Saturday.

I don't mind the mowing. The problem is that there are numerous walkways made of flagstone and pea gravel. So, there is a lot of painful weed-eating.

I have just enough time to do it after work with a 22" push mower now. A riding mower will cut that time significantly for me. That said, I'd also rather be drinking beer in the pool.

I'm actually leaning toward one of the Lithium Ion options. I grew very tired of the never-ending maintenance and starting going to battery-powered lawn tools.
