future of lawn care for subdivided lots imo. not quite there yet, but I think the tech will get better. cuts at night while you're asleep...every night. for now, I have a 12 year old.

So, I am debating on whether to bite the bullet and buy a riding mower or hire someone. It's a 0.67 acre lot and the quotes I've gotten have been $75-$90 per mow. We have hired 2 different companies, but both were very unreliable and the second did a piss-poor job, so we told them not to come back. All that said, disregarding my time and effort and looking at it purely economically, I can buy the mower I'd like for $5000 or less. Assuming $80 per mow, the mower would be paid for in about 68 mows. This brings us to my question. I'm just curious how many times everyone thinks they mow per year. I'm in Baton Rouge, for reference. I'm thinking from at least May 1 - October 1, I generally mow weekly. Assuming once every two weeks from March 1 to May 1 and October 1 to December 1, that's already 31 mows per year.

Tha frick? Who mows their yard more than 1 time per week?
People who give a damn how their yard looks, and mow based on when it needs to be mowed rather than by a calendar.

you don't need a $5,000 commercial grade zero turn mower for your lawn.
Need? No.
But it'll make it a much more enjoyable experience and basically eliminate the time factor.

My neighbor has had one for several years. Same size lot .67 acre. It cuts day and night. It doesn't give quite the putting green cut like a good mower, but, he ain't out there in the heat.

Have I mentioned how much I hate pea gravel? Did the lawn Friday evening. Got hit directly in the dick by a rock. That may be all I need to hire someone.

Lot is about that size and I pay $45 (Cut, Trim & Blow)
$10 extra twice a year for fertilizer/weed control

Let me get your guy's number. I think I need to just start approaching lawn crews working in my neighborhood and see if they want to quote me.

Just depends. I would say for a little over a half acre lot a $5,000 mower is a little high. What are you buying? I cut about 3 acres and I have a 61 inch cut that I paid 8k for.

makes no sense.

Yeah he’s basically paying for that already in his mow charge. No way you can fert and squirt your yard for $10. Unless he means extra $10 per month or something

$90 to mow my yard? is this real? Is that what you ballers are paying to not cut your grass?
That is ridiculous.
